Selection of Gwen Ifill again shows that GOP is 'The Stupid Party'

MANASSAS, Va.,, Oct 01, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- By agreeing to the selection of Gwen Ifill to moderate the vice presidential debate, despite her obvious conflict of interest regarding the presidential election, Republicans have shown why they are called "the stupid party," Richard A. Viguerie, the Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, said.
"How could the negotiators have signed off on a liberal moderator who has a book coming out on Inauguration Day heralding the 'Age of Obama'?" Viguerie asked.
Ifill's book, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama, is due to be published January 20, 2009, according to the book's page at Amazon.com. "Needless to say, the success of the book depends to a great extent on the outcome of the presidential election," Viguerie noted. "As Greta van Susteren, a lawyer, pointed out: 'In law, this would create a mistrial'."
"Imagine if one of the officials at Super Bowl earlier this year had had a book coming out on Super Bowl Sunday entitled Dynasty: The Age of the New England Patriots. Can you imagine the New York Giants agreeing to that? But then, the New York Giants are a lot smarter than Republicans."
Ifill's book was mentioned by name in a July 21 Associated Press article by Kinney Littlefield. The roster of debate moderators was revealed August 5.
"Democrats don't agree to debates on the Fox News Channel, where they might get tough questions," Viguerie pointed out. "They agree to debates only when they get the home field advantage - only when the questioners are people who see liberalism as objective reality and who consider the opinions of conservative, mainstream Americans to be backward and ill-informed. And they get away with it because the Republicans don't have the fortitude to do something about it."

"we" as Americans have everything to worry about.

This is isn't sports. You can't just choose a team and and stick with them thick and thin.

Eventually you have to recognize the facts.

Gwen Ifill is nothing if not a fair commentator. I can't see that changing when she moderates tonight's debate.

Furthermore, her book, which hasn't even been published yet (hell, it's not even finished) chronicles the evolution of politics amongst African Americans. The book talks as much about former Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell as it does Senator Barack Obama. I think what more defines the ReThungniCons as the party of political stupidity is their willingness to always reach for the lowest hanging fruit and constantly grasp at straws when cornered, kind the way they are here, whining that just because this black moderator has written a book about the politics of the black community, it's just a given that she and the rest of the darkies are finally in a position to get whitey! That's downright silly, to put it kindly.

    • the questions are very carefully thought out beforehand.
there isn't too much she can do as a moderator to be biased.

    • I'd have to say it's actually a strategic move and not a 'stupid' move on the republicans behalf. They know that regardless of the moderator, Palin is likely going to have a few blunders (I'm being kind), so what better way to draw attention away from her blatant lack of knowledge.

Gwen Ifill is the perfect scapegoat for the republicans, as the perception by many (regardless of if it's warranted or not) will be that she holds a bias.

You know the republicans are going to spin this one as best they can..... they need as many distractions and excuses as possible to draw attention away from the anticipated annihilation that will ensue tonight!

    • Gwen Ifill is first and foremost a respected journalist so don't try crying foul ball before the opening pitch.

      That's what I call a "punk move".

You're not a punk. Are you?
