Lucy Corelli, Stamford's Republican registrar of voters, was reviewing new registration cards when she came across one with a confusing address.

A staff member called the phone number on the card to speak with the applicant, Tyler, who supposedly was almost 18.

"We spoke to mom (and) said we'd like to speak with Tyler," Corelli said. "The mother said 'Why?... Tyler is only 12 years old.'"

It was one of 13 allegedly fraudulent cards Corelli submitted to state elections officials to investigate. ...

The elections commission this week opened an investigation into similar allegations that ACORN submitted at least 10 false voter-registration cards in Bridgeport.

ACORN's voter registration drives are under scrutiny in Nevada, Wisconsin, North Carolina, New Mexico, Michigan, Ohio and Missouri.

"This is a group that has tried to undermine and subvert our election system and laws by flooding local election officials with fraudulent cards," Republican National Committee spokesman Daniel Diaz said in a conference call with reporters.

State GOP Chairman Christopher Healy said the organization, which works in low-income, primarily Democratic communities, is running a "sleazy operation."

"ACORN, not just here but around the country is trying to stuff the ballot box," Healy said. "I think they've got to be shut down somehow." ...

    • I hope everyone knows that submitting faulty registrations is NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!!!

These are forms that have to be checked, double checked, and finally matched with a human being in order for them to have an affect on anything.

So unless 12yr old tyler was planning on showing up to vote, this whole thing is irrelevant. So try again GOP.

I wish the media would stop wasting time on this.
