Olmert admits in interview Israel must withdraw from Occupied Palestinian Territories if it wants peace.

Ehud Olmert passes leadership of the Kadima Party to Tzipi Livni and leaves a challenging legacy. In comments he made during an interview with Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot, Olmert admits Israel must withdraw from areas of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and even the Golan Heights, an area at the center of the Israeli-Syrian dispute.

    • all this debate about isreal and palistine.... hmm lets look farther back....... Who claimed the land as their own in a holy mission?? How did it all become known as Isreal?? Now lets look into what happened after WWI and how the country itself cmae to be in modern day......Hmmmm.... all I can say is history repeats itself in this instance. With self rightous ideology about land ownership and religious tensions this is bound to happen no matter what. Many palestines vow for an end to isreal as a nation and many isrealites vow the same of palestine. This hatred and war has been going on for centuries and at least three major religions claim the same spot as their holy land. Untill true enlightenment breaks through the religious boundaries we will see a never ending war. Any debate over the actions of these countries is merely calling two kettles black.

    • Countries throughout the world believe that Israelis` should withdraw.

The only ones against withdrawal are the Israelis themselves believing it is their god given right to take what they want.

Iran is next on the list and thats when the doo doo will really hit the fan

    • Palestine is defending itself from Israeli government greed and killing of its people. Anyone that takes my family land, olive groves and bulldozes my house is going to pay a price and I would defend my family to the end. Palestine has a right to defend...Israel has no right to take what is not theirs.

Even if your family didn't own it, and had in fact, taken it from others?

Look up the Trans-Jordan history, and the history of Palestine. And not from just one source.

Where the Palestinians are the most wrong, is when they primarily target kids, not the military or the government of the ones they think wronged them. Just the kids.

    • lets face it...every israeli knows the true path to peace. I mean...its not exactly complicated when the people who are shelling and being shelled by you are constantly telling it to you every day.

therefore...israelis don't want peace (at least, not the majority). they are willing to trade the lives of palestinians, and a few of their own boys and girls, to take whatever territory they want.

    • The Jewish people in Isreal will never ever even settle for an even trade. They are going to take the food bearing lands and E. Jerusalem and say hey we want these here is your Palestinian state in the desert.

Hopefully, they will walk the talk they speak of and create a SOLUTION.

    • You mean if there wasn't a United States, and we were living and drowning in a sea of unemployment, no positive choices to make, and our own swill? And the land we'd been squatting on for centuries and thrown a bone every now and then by our overlords (Ottomans) and our own cousins (other Arabs), and China came along and was given our squatted land, and offered jobs and better housing, clean water and sanitation that was several centuries ahead of what we were used to?

      Yeah, that would really suck.

We haven't even talked about all the aid sent by most, or at least a lot of the world, only to have it skimmed off by our self appointed "leader" Arafat.

    • Nonsense. Attacks from the West Bank are in response to the theft of land and slaughter of Palestinians. If China did to the USA what Israel has been doing to Palestine and the Palestinians for six decades, you'd be mad as hell too.

    • They took the west bank and Golan heights to stop raids and shelling attacks in the first place.

Giving the Palestinian's property will do nothing but fuel their zeal for terrorist activities.
Israel would just have to re-take it in a few years.

Say they did give it to them and Palestine would accept and they'd stop the violence, it would be a good trade. The story didn't go in to any detail, that i heard, about what would be the details of a land deal.

    • What's he thinking? He ever hear of Chamberland, or Dayan?

Appeasement of one's enemy never works well, at least for the appeaser.

      Good thing he's leaving.

    • "Just My Opinion", there are things they "must" do, some things they "should" do, and many more they "could" do all in the name of peace. Unfortunately, they have never shown a predisposition to do any of them.
