    • Despite public protests, when it came time to replace our faithful, reliable and all-but-tamperproof lever voting machines here in Connecticut, our state government chose to stick us with Diebold vote-stealing machines.

I for one haven't taken this as a sign there was nothing left to do but shrug and give up, though.

I've been voting absentee in all our elections since the change. And, since the optical-scan machines CT bought are from an untrustworthy supplier too, I've been taking the extra precaution of photocopying and/or digitally photographing my fully filled-out ballot before returning it. (This is perfectly legal so long as you're only making a record of your *own* ballot, and you can do much the same thing at the polls if you can't or prefer not to vote absentee.)

We can no longer trust that our votes will be counted as we've cast them, or that there will be any accountability from the people we've traditionally entrusted that responsibility to. But nothing is stopping us from creating our own paper trail. As the voter, with a record of your vote you've created, you can legally authenticate that record in the event votes in your precinct are challenged... or use your record to mount your own challenge.

Note that I'm in a so-called "safe" state, too. None of us can afford to take chances anymore, and especially not this year.

      wanna bet?

I think you under estimate the conservative christian vote.

They retain the power in america to chose the president. They will ONLY vote for a president that pretends he is doing god's work.

These people have been told for months over and over again that Obama is a muslim and we don't know the real obama...etc...

You are about to see McCain take this thing and shock everyone.

    • Senator Obama is fighting back through legal means.
He and his camp knew what to expect and they are not going to let this election be taken away from them.
Now, it's up to the rest of us to stand with them and report any descrepancies in our local voting procedures.
We can stop this robbery from taking place.

    • The sad part is, for most Americans concerned with convenience, it's unlikely that they'll ensure that they are registered. I don't mean to be cynical, but this enthusiasm only works if all those new voters, especially lower-income and minorities, are actually counted.

    • I'm right behind you. The error of Rove politics is OVER. Let's get back on track. (And throw Rove in jail for trashing our country, too.)

The vote has not even happened. This is fear mongering at its best. This is what Obama did for his cousin Odingo in Kenya. Many Christians died in Kenya because Odingo screamed "ELECTION FRAUD!" and pitted the tribes against each other. This was the advise Mr. Obama gave him.

Go out and vote and if you lose, lose with class. If its stolen, have proof and act on it. Use your brains, don't beleive something just because the media tells you it happened.

They are talking about voter frauds...Kind of like ACORNS "Mickey Mouse" voting dem.

I for one do not believe Mr. McCain is going to win.

    • It's horrible that Americans have been willing to forfeit their voting rights for the sake of being assured by the Conservatives that if you are white you are better off with them, and the only way to assure that we keep an apartheid society is to surrender our right to fair elections.

Some have predicted that America will not again be willing to suffer another stolen birthright.
