    • Too many people move for vote by mail to work. The whole idea is to connect to your community; meet your neighbors; talk politics w/out fear of being considered "politically incorrect;" debate; EVOLVE!!!!

The highest voting percentage rates in U.S. elections is in Puerto Rico, where there is one such day!!!! (ex. In the 2000 election, Puerto Rico had the highest turnout in the US at just over 82 percent.)

    • That is so true. It needs to be a holiday, it is a really important day. More people would vote and try to care more about who and what they're voting for.

    • After a couple years of Special Elections on top of General Elections in California, instead of having to go to the polling place every few months I opted for permanent vote by mail status.

Which seems to be have been a good precaution to avoid voter supression and voter machine fraud.

I have a paper ballot early and to avoid any trouble from the post office I brought it into the County Election Office myself to mak esure it got there in plenty of time to be counted before the rush on Election Day.

I made a copy of the ballot to make sure I have a record of the votes I cast in case of any doubt of what the votes were so I can produce the evidence if needed later.

    • I agree all the way....there is no other way to make it so that everyone has one day set aside to vote....we all know that people are ready to take part in the change we need, now they need the opportunity to take part in the electoral process and make their votes without any other obligations or distractions....

    • Call in sick, take a vacation day, have a lot of sex the night before so you're too tired to go to work - whatever it takes. Your country needs you !

    • I agree. I was talking about this with a friend last night. With all the paranoia going around the last several years about voter fraud, get rid of early voting, which is most susceptible to manipulations, and make election day a national holiday instead of Columbus Day for example.

    • Seriously, I have never understood how a nation so "proud" of it's democratic tradition can't commit at least one freaking day to preserve, enrich and protect itself. But that's just me.
To be fair, RS57, I vote absentee. So I'm really just looking for an excuse to party!
