Obama is gaining ground even in red Georgia; James Brown, a Republican, might have endorsed him.

The Godfather of Soul James Brown, who sprang up to legend from Augusta, Georgia, was a staunch Republican but also an icon of the civil rights movement. The fact that Senator Barack Obama is gaining ground even in red Georgia - where early voting favors him - would not have displeased the Godfather; Pepe Escobar argues that James Brown would have found many points in common with a black man with historical consciousness and fighting for social justice. Republicans, meanwhile, prefer to depict Obama as a dangerous Marxist.

Pepe Escobar, born in Brazil is the roving correspondent for Asia Times and an analyst for The Real News Network. He's been a foreign correspondent since 1985, based in London, Milan, Los Angeles, Paris, Singapore, and Bangkok. Since the late 1990s, he has specialized in covering the arc from the Middle East to Central Asia, including the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He has made frequent visits to Iran and is the author of Globalistan and also Red Zone Blues: A Snapshot of Baghdad During the Surge both published by Nimble Books in 2007.

    • Send Pe pe back to Brazil. He is just another one of the Globalist, that want to distribute the wealth of the U.S.A. around the world.

Obama is Pe pe's hero, and the tool of the Globalist.

Notice James Brown was a STAUNCH Republican, As was MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. Smoke and Mirrors my friends smoke and Mirrors. On Tuesday if you value your freedom at all you had better vote Republican.

    • So far, every post I've read from nessie, DS53 and bringthetruthtolight have been large leaps to unproven conclusions based on misquotes and rumor.

If you morons want four more years just like the last eight, then move to Iraq and take "Gramps and "YouBetcha" with you.

Actually we'll be moving to Club Gitmo since Obama is bringing those dudes up to Massachusetts to live with Joe, Teddy, and John K.

Once the Messiah cleans up Iraq, I guess Raines and the other Dems who got rich on our tax money will be moving into S. Hussein's now vacant Palaces.

    • Obama a Marxist? You be the judge.

In 2001 he said that the Civil Rights Movement fell short of the redistribution goals because they were so court focused. The Supremes would not BREAK FREE OF CONSTITUTIONAL CONSTRAINTS and institute redistribution of wealth.

Given that unfortunate fact, Obama establishes that it was tragic that the Movement *lost track of the political and community organizing and activities ... to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributed change and in some ways we still suffer from that.*

Now, is it not obvious that Obama has now actually established those coalitions of power and fully intends to correct a basic tragedy of the Movement?

Conversely, now that Obama has the power and support, if he does NOT make the effort to correct one of the basic tragedies of the Civil Rights Movement doesnt that make him a traitor to his race.

The context of the Obama tape was failures of the Civil Rights Movement. Do you honestly believe that he won't try to finish the job?

    • According to Peepee:

40% of early voters are black. 92% of blacks are for Obama. How incredibly shocking that Obama is gaining on McCain given that its mostly Obama peeps that are voting early!!

James Brown was a staunch Republican precisely because he was a Civil Rights dude. Republicans passed the Civil Rights Act despite the Democrats fierce efforts to kill it.

It gauls me how you lefties push this Blacks All Think Alike paradigm. You, my friends, are the racists!

Yes, Obama's money is from "the people" by way of Saudi Arabia's Aramco.

Never been a lawyer from Chicago who wasn't morally compromised.

Why would Obama be an exception?

Too many of this guy's friends are already under indictment or on their way to prison (if they aren't already there) for it to be any other way.

But, never fear, some folks are dazzled by the gleam of ebony and will fall for this criminals empty promises.
