The Philadelphia Phillies say the wait was definitely worth it. The Phillies captured the World Series, winning the decisive fifth game 4-3 over Tampa Bay in a clinching game that took two days to complete following Monday night's rain delay.

    • The Phillies are the "losingest" team in all of all professional sports so its really gratifying --and rare that when they win a championship. They have won only two world championships in 125 years while the Florida Marlins have also won two world series championships in a span of 15 or so years of existence!
A Phillies championship is as rare as albino twins! Well, almost, but you get my meaning!
The last time the Phillies won was in 1980. It was then that the Reagan Revolution began with the groundbreaking election of Ronald Reagan. This time the Phillies have won with the prospect that there will be another groundbreaking election: Barack Obama may be elected president as the first African American to win this office. From '80 to '08 we are seeing the Phillies' World Series Championship as a harbinger of social change! Go Fightin' Phils!
