McCain funds Khalidi, Palin calls Khalidi a terrorist

Do these people talk to each other?

In regards to Khalidi, however, the guilt-by-association game burns John McCain as well.

During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.

A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi's Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (See grant number 5180, "West Bank: CPRS" on page 14 of this PDF.)

The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi's group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes."

Of course, there's seemingly nothing objectionable with McCain's organization helping a Palestinian group conduct research in the West Bank or Gaza. But it does suggest that McCain could have some of his own explaining to do as he tries to make hay out of Khalidi's ties to Obama.

Page 14 of the PDF:
Very interesting, lots of money to Russia, Venezula, Cuba, Nicaragua, and almost 1.6 million to West bank Khalidi groups

    • RE: Second Amendment. Obama has repeatedly said our guns are safe. He said if you don 't wish to vote for him, think of another reason.

    • OMG, I have to do it. (blush) I'm going to defend Palin. She did read her lines correct. This time the McCain campaign screwed up. LMAO. It is hilarious. That was to be the most recent swiftboat, that Obama gave the guy some kudos at a dinner as a feature speaker for professors, but McCain and Ayers gave them money! Ayers and McCain are closer than Obama--they support the same PLO friends. LOL

Gordon Libby is running around supporting McCain. Too choice. Of course Libby, the domestic terrorist, did "his" time. And what are friends for when they see your ship floundering? Some of McCain's other "pals" would doubtlessly speak in his behalf, but most of them are still in prison.

It says a lot when the McCain campaign and the Republican party can find nothing to hit Obama with except a guy that was a 60's activist (Ayers) and an old hell and brimstone preacher (Wright) stuck in the civil rights movement.

Vetting of McCain and Palin are choice cuts... Those mavericks have both been brought up for ethnic committee violations... And their preachers? What a trip. Palin's even hunts old woman and calls them witches. Yeah, Buddy. Then there is Hagee, who endorsed McCain, calling the Catholic Church, "The Great Whore" http://www.alternet.org/election08/84386/
And check out Rev. Rod Parsley, a preacher John McCain admires: http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/05/john-mccain-rod-parsley-p...

OOPs, McCain/Palin put their feet in "IT" again...

    • ...and by the way...it was John Ashcroft, a Republican Attorney General, Who said the 2nd Amendment was included, so that We, The People, could defend Ourselves from Our own Government gone mad...it was about the ONLY thing He ever said I agreed with, but God bless Him for it

    • About the 2nd Amendment...I'm a "Dues-Paid" Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and as I've said for decades, I'm more worried about the Repugnantblicans bankrupting and starving Me 'till I'm too weak and unable to pick up My Rifle and defend My Constitutional Rights, than I am about having any Democrat try to take it away...I did so much better financially and spiritually with Clinton in office than ANY other President, AND managed to put together a pretty decent collection of entirely LEGAL guns...including SEMI-Automatic Military Grade Rifles...You will not find an Adult who hasn't been adjudicated mentally ill, or criminal, WITHOUT a Military Rifle, in Sweden, which has one of the LOWEST murder rates in the world.
My advice is vote Democratic, and if They ever DO try to take 'em away...USE the damn thing !!!

    • If it is guilt be association ...then... Why was Sarah Palin having conversations with Dick Chaney Prior to her $40 Billion Pipe Line Project. Dick Chaney didn't have any friends that worked at Trans Canada , the winner and only bid that made it to the final selection.
Could there have been offer of a National Republican Position if the deal went the right way? Dick Chaney is the slimmest person I have ever seen , I would bet my right lung he is the one who selected the VP position for Mr. McCain. Remember McCain was not high on the Bush Administration's Dance Card. This was the insurance that things would be followed through after they left office.

    • This is a good one. Why don't they just go home???? I want to know how Americans can, like, take anything these bozos say seriously! Do they not pay attention? Like the mainstream media, sans FOX, exposing for weeks the lies and misleading facts being spewed by these egomaniacs?? And they saw the debates, I assume. Just when I am near insane from this disparity, it occurs to me why "they" support McComplain. it's race. heaven save our country.

    • Tell me why everyone is so upset over the second ammendment view that Obama has? Many of my co-workers are not voting for Obama for this reason alone. Sounds like more Republican retardedness. I just don't see Obama's view on this. Links or directions would be a great help.

    • Because so many of Palin/McCain's base do not check facts (or even read), it doesn't matter how untrue or hypocritical what she says is. They eat it up anyway, and she's able to whip them up into a frenzy by asserting or accusing anything. This is the real concern. I'd bet none of them will learn or care about learning about McCain's million-dollar-plus contribution to this guy's cause. Ignorance is very easy to exploit and can be used by the powerful to acquire more power and promote violence.

    • Another interesting angle on this is the hypocrisy of McCain actively seeking to suppress the records of his car crash in 64, which by the rumors going about may have been a fatal DUI, being release to several news organizations. And then he is trying to get this tape from another news organization.
Doesn't he know that if you obstruct freedom of the press, the press tend to backlash.
The public have a right to know if he killed someone while drunk, or not. If he is innocent then show the record, don't use your families power to suppress it. And even if he were guilty, if he would just let it out in the open, people could judge. Everyone makes mistakes.

    • Considering how much money that John McCain, as Chairman of the Republican International Institute gave Rashid Khalidi, roughly $1 plus million in 1997 alone, I would have thought he would want to keep this quiet. Plus McCains relationship with this guy goes back to the late 1980's.
The more you dig the dirtier it gets.
The Huffington post has a PDF embedded in their story which shows the whole list of groups they gave to that year, including groups in Cuba, Russia (lots), Venezula, Turkey, Palestine...
Anyone would think they were trying to interfer in the affairs of some sovereign states?
I have been researching some of the members of these groups, particularly in Cuba and Russia, and its not a pretty picture....remember Chechnia,

It makes for some very interesting reading, if you google some of the groups they funded...
