Now That Obama Has Won . . . There is No Excuse

Now that a Democrat has been elected president, the Democrats in Congress have no excuse. They can no longer pretend that they have to “hold back” to win the election.

They have no excuse to delay war crimes charges against Bush, Cheney and company for Iraq.

They have no excuse to delay war crimes charges for torture.

They have no excuse to delay criminal charges for spying on Americans.

They have no excuse to delay criminal charges for 9/11.

Now is not the time for Democratic machine politics. Now is the time to implement true American values - cherished across the political aisle - of liberty and justice.

There can be no liberty in America unless the tyrants who have tried to imprison us and enslave us are prosecuted.

There can be no justice in America unless the high and mighty are held accountable for their actions.

Obama is a former Constitutional law professor. He knows the value of the Constitution and the rule of law. He promised during his campaign to curb the unconstitutional practices of the executive branch.

But that is not enough. Because if the tyrants in both parties who have trampled on the vision of the founding fathers are not held accountable, then future tyrants will learn that they can get away with it, also.

Now that Obama has won, there is no excuse. Those who have trampled on our country and our people must be held to account for the whole world and future generations to see.

    • Hmm, I don't find this all that critical. What is stated needs to be acted on by the new Congress and Admin.

It's too bad that people here vote down items based on politics, I've seen it happen to many of the posts on Nader or other third party candidates here.

From Current's FAQ page about voting on items:

"By clicking the green button on items, you're telling the rest of the Current community that you think the item is relevant and important enough to air on Current TV. However, it does not necessarily indicate that you agree with the views expressed in the item.

Clicking on the red "Nope" button doesn't necessarily mean that the item is bad. By voting "Nope," you're telling the rest of the community that this item may not be worthy of consideration for air on Current TV."

But I don't see that actually happening, do you?

    • Yes ninepounds6 but the submission is to sort of jar the hardcore liberals here on Current back to reality with regards to Obama.

He is only one man and he isn't going to be able to change the direction of our country even if he had the ability.

He has won his campaign on the promise of change, yet he never even said what he would change, or if that change would even be good change.

Since he hasn't mentioned addressing anything in this article, or anything really except issuing another stimulus check, it is time to really get people to hold his feet to the fire and address serious issues.

    • I applaud America for voting in Obama instead of McCain, but in all reality, he is one man. Just because he has strength of character and we think he will do the right thing does not mean that the professional liars we call politicians on both sides of the aisle will behave any differently. They do what they are paid to do, obviously, and we just as obvioulsy do not pay nearly as much as corporations do.

But war crime charges for Bush and his cronies, ending the abuse of the Constitution, and jail time for corrupt CEOs sound good to me!
