WASHINGTON – President George W. Bush has granted pardons to 14 individuals and commuted the prison sentences of two others convicted of misdeeds ranging from drug offenses to tax evasion, from wildlife violations to bank embezzlement, The Associated Press learned Monday.
The new round of White House pardons are Bush's first since March and come less than two months before he will end his presidency. The crimes committed by those on the list also include offenses involving hazardous waste, food stamps, and the theft of government property.
Bush has been stingy during his time in office about handing out such reprieves.
Including these actions, he has granted a total of 171 and eight commutations. That's less than half as many as Presidents Clinton or Reagan issued during their time in office. Both were two-term presidents.
On the latest pardon list were:
_Leslie Owen Collier of Charleston, Mo. She was convicted for unauthorized use of a pesticide and violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
_Milton Kirk Cordes of Rapid City, S.D. Cordes was convicted of conspiracy to violate the Lacey Act, which prohibits importation into the country of wildlife taken in violation of conservation laws.
the list cont....with some higher crimes

Oh pardon me... =P
These opportunistic Mexies could hardly find a market if we were actually "smarter." But our elitest gov't fuqups ensure we're not. The whole circumstance and conditions they create in this BS "war" on drugs is hysterically ludicrous. It's a corporate thug sham to harrass Americans and command their wallets, undermine resistance, and enforce even stronger subjugation.
But O much Beloved America! Just cut yourselves open, pull the skin back on your foreheads so you look younger when you feel older, suck the fat out of your bodies into cheap medical plastic bags made in China, pull all that fetal "tissue" from your wombs limb by limb, pieces by bloody pieces (fuq the medical bags dump it in a metal tray) as often as you have "need" not caring you bleed for little more than your hard ons and your sex, and be sure to bury the memory of it with a Xanax or a Prozak (big pharma KA-CHING! rackin it up) so you all feel better about yourselves when the realization finally hits you no-holds-barred about how genuinely manipulated and fuqt things (you) really are, and how we've all contributed in our own little ways, but let us "catch" you smoking a jay and we'll brand your g'dam fuqn "dumb" ass for life. Those are the rules. And they don't have to make sense, least of all to you. Got it? Good, cuz I'll just beat your dumbass with my big stick...fuqit, I'll taze your holy-roller ass or pump you full of rubber bullets to my perverse heart's legalist delight... I, the Government, the True tangible God you can feel, rule...not you "We(ak) the people..." posers and panzy losers. Implicitly things have always changed, but now, yes, we're all out, Obama or not, ready or not. And it's all about more power to the homos and foreign nationals now, cuz that's how perverted WE are, and you just better stand the fuq by, shut the hell up, and be happy we don't come get your sorry asses....
_|_ _|_ Well, hold 'em high. HIGH, I say, g'dammit! Or have you had one too many Xanax? where's mine? pffff...

I hadn't heard about this B.P. thing. Incredible. Goes to show how the administration of justice actually does require wisdom and not just legalist dumfuqs "upholding the law." And if an American had been shot he'd still be sitting in jail, rotting for little more than mary jane even, which some dumbasses could actually use to improve their IQ, as well as their temperament in lieu of padding pharma bank accounts for shit like Xanax (which is pretty good I hear actually....hehehe...iono, haven't tried it) and supporting bs programs which supplant one addiction for another like heroin users with that crap methadone. ("Well at least they're not robbing Gramma's house anymore!") heh... WTG marine. More than Bush, also consider the judges who wield and administer the "law" in such liberal doses as they see fit. They're long overdue for such deserving "ire" as yours... May they see the light long before the rest of us do.

thanks asherp for the heads up here. been a while since I've visited...Occurs to me that the merits of the administration are whatever they are; but I, too, hope that some worthy people are able to take advantage of such unnecessarily rare grace. We all need it.
One thing's for sure, and without a doubt imho. The justice system in the United States is so freakn jacked, you learn to despise the faceless self-indulgent gutless fools that manage it. Many more generally innocent than trenchantly guilty souls, with much more good to give and do, than live up to satanic legalisms, have lost meaningful more productive lives because of deliberately blinder justice. The fact that the juducial system is generally recalcitrant to better and more open and honest wisdom, clinging to legalism as if for dear life like a judge hugging the legs of his chair in chambers for fear of being dragged off his pedestal, sticking closer to political stigmas, is pretty sick.
Thoreau's quote comes to mind for me when he said/wrote: "There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil (and claiming to look good doing it) to the one who is striking at the root."
Strike at the root.

He pardoned Fugee John Forte who had $1.4M worth of coke. Certainly not what the left would think Bush would do with these pardons. Unlike Clinton, Bush has yet to pardon a terrorist (deny your ignorance and save your Scooter Libby comments). Clinton pardoned a member of the Weather Underground who killed people not buildings and members of a pro Puerto Rican independence terrorist movement.

I often wonder what goes through a presidents mind when they grant pardons, is it a religious belief, political belief or just spontaneous choise to appeas the public.
How great it might have been if these presidents would have been around when Pilot and Herod made their choise.

HaloedGriot:
Facts about Mumia's 1982 trial:
* The policeman was killed with a 44 caliber gun. Abu-Jamal's gun which he was licensed to carry as a night-time taxi driver, was a 38 caliber.
* The police never tested Abu-Jamal's gun to see if it had been recently fired. They never tested his hands to see if he had fired a gun. They have never shown Abu-Jamal 's gun to be the fatal weapon.
* No police officers present at Abu-Jamal's arrest claimed to have heard Jamal's "confession" until two months after it allegedly occurred. This was right after Abu-Jamal had filed police brutality charges.
* Abu-Jamal's doctor said that Abu-Jamal, who was unconscious, said nothing. He reported that a nurse found police with loaded guns pointed at Mumia as he lay unconscious in his hospital bed.
* William Singletary, a Vietnam veteran and local businessman, saw the whole incident and has testified that Abu-Jamal was not the shooter. However, the police forced him to change his story and intimidated him into leaving Philadelphia.
* Other key witnesses, such as Veronica Jones -- who now testifies in support of Abu-Jamal, were harassed into giving false testimony. Two prosecution witnesses were given special favors, including exemption from criminal prosecution, for their testimony.
Elements in an unfair trial:
* The Judge, Albert Sabo, sentenced more people to death than any other sitting judge in the US.
* The public defender didn't interview a single witness in preparation for the trial, and didn't have funds for defending a capital case.
* The prosecutor removed 11 qualified African Americans from the jury. He also argued for the death penalty because of Mumia's membership in the Black Panther Party, a practice later condemned as unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court.
* The racial bias of Philadelphia's courts has resulted in 120 people on death row, all but 13 non-white.

I hope there are worthy people on the list.
Everyday I read about some fucked american loser who has been raped unnecessarily by the US Justice system.
I could think of several people I've read about this past week that should qualify for this list.
The US should hire someone with basic common sense who can be given the power to pardon the all the people in the USA who are unjustly considered criminals for their non-crimes.
This should be a full time position.

If Bush were to pardon anyone involved, it would provide protection against criminal charges, particularly for people who were following orders or trying to protect the nation with their actions. But it would also be highly controversial.
At the same time, Obama advisers say there is little — if any — chance that his administration would bring criminal charges.
Then it means !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we American people will have justice for ourselves as well as the innocent lives his war has taken, as well as the lives he destroyed by avoiding his duties as acting president in the economy.A set up I am sure to push for his Father's "world order".there is laws for this and laws to be broken, cocaine users and executive power pardons.....??????? how interesting.....
