Virus infected pensioners kept in cruise ship quarantine

A boatload of elderly British passengers aboard a UK-operated cruise ship on Germany's Rhine River have been quarantined after falling ill with the virulent virus.

However, 16 of the worst affected passengers had to be disembarked from the Dutch-registered Lady Anne ship and taken in a fleet of ambulances to a local hospital.

A further 21 out of the 110 British passengers in total are being treated on board the ship by medics and not allowed to leave.

The cruise line promised its guests 'fun-filled revelry, to be the perfect antidote to those dreary British November days'.

But according to local authorities near Boppard it resembled 'a floating dressing station'.

Bridge on the bridge, diarrhea on the decks - a floating cacophony of coughing pensioners. It was promised as a 'Turkey and Tinsel Cruise,' if that's not bad enough. Let's get 'em home for Christmas, poor souls.
