Don't know how this was allowed to proceed under the current administration, but thank the fates for small victories....
The Bush administration has stubbornly insisted that the mercenaries (Blackwater is not unique, remember) should be subject neither to U.S. military justice nor to Iraqi civil justice. In other words that they be granted James Bond "00x" immunity. Such a policy is insane!
So I'm glad that at least these few guys are being held accountable. But I'm definitely not glad that the "grunts" are being held accountable while the higher-ups whose policies, whose rationalizations for those policies, and whose "wink-wink, nod-nod" encouragement the grunts are acting on.
Scapegoating. Happened at My-Lai, happened at Abu Ghraib, and it's happening again. These guys should indeed be held accountable. But so should Erik Prince, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, George the Ignorant Bully, and others.

Indeed --it's drop in the bucket but it is a start. This corporation, like I.G. Farben, should be busted up, prohibited from re-organizing, assets liquidated, and decision makers PUT IN JAIL or --in appropriate cases --executed for murder.
