Huckabee and Palin top 2012 Poll

The dust of the 2008 campaign trail has barely settled and already there are some very early favorites for potential 2012 GOP White House hopefuls.

A CNN-Opinion Research poll released yesterday shows former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee tops the list of Republican possibilities for the presidency in four years.

He was the choice of 34% of Republicans and party-leaning independents to be the GOP nominee in 2012.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin who was John McCain's running mate is two percentage points behind Huckabee.

The poll indicates that Palin has more support among Republican men while Huckabee beats her among GOP women.

Third place in the poll goes to ex-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

The survey is an early measure of possible support for the next Republican presidential nomination.
