Altrough I'm not a vegetarian (I eat a LOTS of meat), this madness (cat killing) must be stopped.
I love cats.
And seriusly - I'd kill anyone who dares to hurt a cat. Even hurting a cat is inhumane. How could anyone do that to a beautiful and innocent animal?
And cats are actualy usefull - they catch mice and rats. Not the mention, cats are lovely.
Anyone who dares to kill a cat deserves to die a slow and painfull death. - 1 year ago

But cats still need to be saved.
Even some chinese cat-owners and dog-owners complained about how companies are STELAING their pets from them.
No,this is much worse than barbarism, much worse than madness. This is something which we cannot detrime how barbaric and mad is.
Also: Do youi realy that China has absolutely NO human rights or animal rights? That's right: China is still a communist state. - 1 year ago

Skinning and cooking any animal while still alive is inhumane, for what ever reason.
My dad raised chickens when we were little... we ate the eggs but could not eat the chickens when he cooked them.
One of our dogs got one of the banties out of the pen and we saved him but he died later of his wounds. He was the only dog we had that did that but he loved any kind of fowl. - 3 years ago

What I dont get is how a lot of vegans or vegetarians are against eating animals because they are "life" but believe in abortion or the death penalty...kinda funny to me.
I'll respect a vegetarian because they dont eat meat because of spiritual karmic reasons. Or maybe because you dont like the taste. But dont tell me you dont eat meat because its a cute animal.
I personally would stop eating meat only because of its unsanitary and unhealthy qualities. Loaded with hormones and toxins. If I had my own farm, then maybe it would be a different story. Can't rely on the government to make sure my food is "safe."
I dont think animals should be saved from being eaten though. I mean animals do hunt. They dont stop from eating each other. What makes a cat a pet? The fact that its little and cute? What is a pet anyway? Shouldn't they be free?
But yes...it is cruel to torture an animal. If it was going to be skinned, it should have been killed first.

That's cruel, no animal should be treated that way. Granted I'm a meat eater, but just because we can kill something doesn't mean we should.

Hey friends....just wanted to add a comment to some of the responses to this story I submitted....first I want to say thanks...all I wanted to do was get some attention to this and generate some responses....second, I am a vegitarian and have been all my life...and third and most important....I wanted to say I did not submit this story because I thought this incident was the one and only bad thing occuring to animals...I am aware that globally, there is a huge disrespect towards the lives of animals, and this was my start...I have been talking about doing something about it for a long time, and submitting this story was the beginning of my efforts....and to anyone that shares the perspective that I should get over it because animals are tortured and eaten and hunted throughout the world...well all I can say is that I will not get over it until it does not occur anymore...I love animals and life in general and your ignorance would never change the way I think, actually, it is your ignorance and lack of compassion that makes me feel the way I do and the world so shitty....all the more reason for me to start this change...holla...

"get over it"
has got to be the stupidest phrase ever uttered by anyone and proves how heartless the user is.
Never should it be used unless you want to see black of heart and vile in character. Then go right ahead.
It is not wrong to eat an animal. It's not. Animals eat animals. Eating animals is the way it is.
However, just like there are good ways to be fired and bad ways to be fired there are good ways to kill an animal for food and bad.
I used firing because most people know how that feels than how it feels to die. It is best to be let go with a kindness in mind than a boss that is snide, condescending, and rude.
Kill an animal...sure...kill them for food...more sure....just don't torture them while you do it. Period.
And don't get over it...death isn't something to just get over.

Yeah, but I think it's actually doing more good than saving them. Cat's are overpopulated, and these strays would be killed regardless. Better to let a starving Chinese family eat than save a cat. Still, why the fuck would you skin one alive? There are 999 other ways to do it and I imagine they'd be doing a lot of scratching/biting/complaining. Just brain it with a rock or something.

If you are against eating cats in china, then you should be against eating cows, chickens, deer, eggs, and etc....
I love eating meat, and while I try to buy my food from humane slaughter houses (is that an oxymoron?), I can't condemn people for eating cats while i eat cows. If you do, then your a hypocrite!

We are talking about China here. When people are hungry, they will eat anything.
I remember back in Cuba, when I was kid, having to hide my cat, because hungry teenagers would steal peoples cats and eat them. It made angry, because I love cats, but these kids were really hungry.
I heard that there weren't that many left anymore.
You can't just go to the store and buy a stake-they have a food rationing card and the government can't even provide what's in the card. I'm not sure how it works in China, but Let's not judge them o harshly!
The way they kill them is horrible, but how are we going to get them to treat the cats humanly when we can't even get then to treat humans with dignity and respect and kindness.

this is stupid. if you're going to kill and eat ANY animal it really doesn't matter which. seriously, Meat doesn't have to be from a cow, pig, chicken or turkey. some people eat goats, some eat rabbits, some eat fish.... bear, frog, cat, horse... it's a dietary choice. around here cats are fat trash eating vermin... why wouldn't we eat them? this is a cultural thing. and just because you grew up thinking that cats are pets and not food doesn't mean it's true. go to india, in their culture, cows are too important to eat, and pigs are too filthy.
now don't get me wrong, no being, chicken to human should have to suffer beyond what is absolutly necessary. and while vegans hold this high holy additude that they're progressive they fail to see that it's not, it's just a dietary choice. I don't eat beef, but that's only to protest cattle ranching and it horrific effects on the local enviroment... I think eating cats would be a possible alternative.

get over it, some people might say the eating chicken is cruel. in china cats are not house pets first, they are food and mousers. there are millions of starving poor. it's called survival, i'm sure they rather not eat cats if they had better options. there is absolutely nothing you or ptea can do about china's hunger/cat problem.

It's culture. What can you do? Take it away from them? We do the same thing in the US with cows, pigs, etc. Maybe we don't cook them alive, but we cook lobsters alive... I'm pretty sure they can feel, too. Just because they're ugly and taste better doesn't mean they should be exempt.
Plus, do you have any idea how many people die of dieseases like HIV/AIDs each day? I'm sorry... But instead of people getting together to stop cats from being eaten, why don't we stand together to stop genocide in Darfur or something of the like?

I personally think that eating cats are just wrong, i mean how does it taste when your munching down on cat, is the meat wet, drippy, is it furry, do you get hairballs. But sometimes i guess you have to think outside the box. Why do they boil them when they just can shave.

Seriously, bigger problems. It seems if you are an animal lover/PETA or whatever you should stop caring about some cats getting killed and start worrying about whole animal species becoming extinct. There are plenty of cats in the world.

This could apply to humans too I guess. In some areas of the world there is certainly an overpopulation based on food supplies and spaces to live.
Lets ask them since they had a choice in the matter. I wonder what their take on it would be.
Extinction of a species is not a good thing and it needs to be kept in check.
There have been known to be extinctions of entire civilizations. Genocide is often a method used to accomplish this.
Since there are plenty of people in the world, lets worry about something else here too.
My point here is: one does not need to be confined to raising a concern or interest in only one of these areas. I think they all need to be addressed.
Public awareness is where it starts.

I just wrote my Congressman with this and another aspect of our relationship with China that needs our attention
_________
I am writing about our situation respecting China. I saw an article which I'll copy-over below.
Firstly, however, I believe this country needs a quality-control system where all items must be labeled as A,B,C,D or E quality. If people then wish to buy a cheap knock-off that breaks in the first week of use, they can purchase an "E".
Such a system, also would demand testing so that no tainted milk products arrive, no tainted medicines.
Do you understand where I'm going with this? Also, I just read of the following article:

Spay and neutering is the key here. If pet owners were more responsible and at least do this, the stray populations would diminish and relief this problem.
Trouble here is the cost. Many can't afford it and consequently, the extras are thrown to the curb.
There should be a free spay and neutering clinic in every town. This is one public good that would benefit most two legged and four legged citizens.

I think there are more things that we should worry about than cute little furry things getting eaten. For example, the hundreds of thousands of people dying from starvation, or may be over population. If I was starving I would propbably eat anything that I can consume and that includes you - just to stay alive... Okay, I hope that most people that criticize have see first hand how people live in these countries. Most of them do not even have clean water, let alone a decent meal. I have visited a few countries and seen first hand what people do just to get one meal a day. I came from a family that had enough money to sustain ourselves however, some of my neighbors lived in carbord boxes or other scraps of wood they can put together to create a shelter. Most of them do not have electricity and walk a few miles to buy fresh water to use for drinking and other things we use water for. I use to accomapany a 4 year old carrying a bucket of water half her weight for a mile just to get a slice of bread which was shared with another her younger brother. I use to steal food from my house just so my friends could eat something. I tried not to be intrusive but that is the way life is... unless, you can solve world hunger and reprogram the way people thing about eating other living things, there really is nothing much you can do. I think the best thing to do is educate people and focus on the big picture.

We have a terrible feral cat problem in our beachside community. Even with the local organizations around aiming for carefull to catch and release, it kind of seems like if there was a humane way to kill them (just like we Americans inhumanly slaughter cows and chickens) to feed other countries, then why not?

Im torn on this issue....on one hand as a cat owner it breaks my heart to hear this. But at the same time this really isnt different from how American's treat their meat. As someone mentioned, its a different culture.....when Americans consume cows its insulting and horrifying to others.
Ultimately the only part of this story that upsets me is that they are skinned and boiled alive. Then again that delicious lobster dinner people enjoy so much was boiled alive.
The fact that they are eating cats is not the issue here really....a cat is no different than a chicken, cow, or goat (even if cats are cuter).

um eating cats is not recomended, if people must eat meat it should be an animal on the lower end of the food chain i.e. animals that don't eat other animals. i dont eat animals because eating flesh personally grosses me out for MANY reasons. but for those of you that arnt going to go vegan anytime soon concider eating less meat. its stright up good for you, and you don't have to be vegan to be for animal rights. we all feel sick inside when animals are in croweded 'industrial' farms. if sub urban housewives had to see a pig get slaugtherd they would really concider the integrety of the processing plant. just to clairify, i know that stopping a tradtion like eating meat won't go away anytime soon. im against it, but anyone i don't care if you like to eat shit, if you agree and want to change the condtions for animals in slaughter houses speak up, our voices as a whole can create change
stop being so hostile
and to the person that mentioned that veganism is tied to 'emotional' issues. i think your wrong. i have always had a poor relationship with food (like many young women, even smart ones that know that they are not 'fat') but for whatever reason i worried obsessivle about what i was consuming and what was in it and such. being vegan has changed my life in the sense that i no longer worry, i know what i eat is right, and for a person(me) who dosnt live the most rightious lifestyle its is the one thing that makes me feel pieous, almost spiritual. and im a completly non superstitious athiest. so if you even thinking about it, go get so literature and read up. do whats best for you and YOUR body, it is but its not totally about animals

Don't get me wrong, I'm a vegetarian and I don't buy anything made with animal parts... i'm very much in favor of ending the cruelty. But seriously, 10,000 cats??
Have you ever met a pig? Pigs are really really intelligent... more so than dogs or cats for sure. They suffer tremendously, and in much greater numbers. Keep that in mind when you're eating that Honey Baked Ham for Giftmas.

What kind of retards think they can generalize over the course of an entire nation? All 10,000 killed a day are skinned alive? Bull shit, sides that where does that bull shit number come from? There are 1.3 billion people in China, I doubt 10,000 is a realistic number. Once again, we eat more meat(in the form of cows and pigs and chicken)than ANY other country on the planet, another 1.2 billion Indians think we're monsters for eating cows, and they taste good, I bet cats and dogs do too cooked right. If they can't kill cats then we can't kill cows. Animals are animals. We can't exalt some and disregard others. It's just like the Michael Vick thing. He can't kill dogs, but Sarah Palin can brag about hunting moose for sport (not necessity). WE CAN'T GIVE SOME ANIMALS PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT AND NOT OTHERS! Besides, don't we have people to worry about, first?

eating animals isn't wrong. we have canines, we were made to consume meat.
its over-farming, mistreating and killing inhumanely that is wrong.
when you lose sight of what's real you lose the support of the masses. being a vegetarian is a sideshow to the real fight, which is the ethical treatment of animals. a few people not eating them isn't going to solve anything.

Our canines are much smaller than those of carnivores. Our intestines are too long for meat-eating but perfectly adapted for eating fruit and vegetable. Meat-eating causes cancer in many people - cancer of the colon, mainly.

All mammals have canine teeth of varying sizes. Some herbivores have large canines - camels come to mind. These teeth are designed for holding the food or for shredding stalks, etc. Canine teeth don't mean that those bearing them were made for eating meat. Human canines are incisiform, not for eating meat.

It would bother me except for the fact that cats, Eagles and all birds of prey are sneaky in searching for their meals. I was feeding squirrels in my back yard and I enjoyed watching these characters play and enjoy themselves. They are very entertaining, however they like other helpless earth bound creatures are no match for the killing skills of the feline creatures and the flying birds of prey. One pregnant pet squirrel I was feeding was picked up and she fought so hard for her freedom the osprey dropped her from about fifty feet. She suffered a lot before she died. But cities here are building nests in metropolitan areas where pigeons are found. But just like Americans slaughter beautiful wild horses and deer, elk, by both gun and bow and arrow and they call it sport. What I would call sport is to turn these human hunters loose in a specially prepares game preserve, and give Dick Cheney and his crowd a gun and turn them lose the hunt the hunter.

is that the same as Australia telling Japan not to whale as they kill hundreds of Kangaroos and Kolas?

The skinned while alive part is sickening (don't need to cook breakfast now). The cute fuzzy pet part is hard to overcome. That is why I can't eat rabbit. They're cute and cuddly. My mind can't forget that.

Yeah...those pictures are great.
I've been through this whole process from birth to butcher.
We've raised them, cared for them, named them, killed them, eaten them.
