A witness told Sky News that about 70 lights could be seen near Halesowen, in the West Midlands. The residents believe they are extra terrestrial spectacles.

Do you think they are real?

    • Ok, UFOs. If you make a building that is sterile. Then make a room inside a room, inside another room, Each sterilized. Then make a glove box that is sterile. Stand in there in a moon suit and open a petri dish for a 10th of a second, it will be filled with contaminates in a day.
We live in a soup - that eats everything that doesn't eat it. And everything that eats it has learned to do so, and to live here, over a 10 billion-year evolved cannibal survival test. You have animals living in your skin - and in each of your eyelashes. There are more of them in you, than you. Everybody has teeth.
No aliens, who have the slightest ability to get to anywhere from where they came, are going come down here. They ain't stupid. (or won't be if they were to exist at all)
      Period, people. Do you understand?

This is how it is with ghosts as well. If you have seen a ghost then no one can convince you that they don't exist and on the flip side, if you haven't seen a ghost then no one can convince you that they do exist.

When I was young I never had a problem in believing in ghosts. It wasn't until I was older that I saw my first ghost; actually there were four. All four were quite benevolent. Since then I have not seen any but I have heard some when they were present. I felt one touch my arm at a funeral; this one was not benevolent.

Needless to say in all cases I was quite startled.

My point here is whether it is ghosts, aliens, bacteria, or if the world is flat, or going to the moon, all of these things fall into the category that many people have found it hard to believe in. Once they have been seen or done then the believe comes and the consciousness of the world begins to change.

    • And what gives us the reason to not think they exist?

Is it really that far fetched? Check your ego at the door and seriously think about it.

What makes it impossible, the Bible, the Quran, the Book of Mormon or some other written document?

There are ancient carvings and paintings found in various places around the world that resemble UFOs. Most of these carvings and paintings date back thousands of years.

This seems to support the claim as to the existence of aliens and establishes their level of technology and development to be far superior and ahead of our own. At the bear minimum it would be thousands of years.

Why could they not look like us? What makes that so improbable? If their start was similar to ours then it would be most likely. Must they all have big black eyes, bulbous heads and little short bodies? Is this what makes them aliens; must they have this stereotyped image?

There is a place in the Bible that references to angels coming down out of the heavens finding some of the maidens to be quite pleasing and desirable

They had their way with them biblically and consequently, they were kicked out of heaven. Since aliens were not really the belief of the time, they could only be angels.

Hmmnn, horny angels or horny aliens, you decide.

    • I think all of the pro-UFO responses on here are interesting. I just didn't expect so many people to believe in this idea. Not judging, I just think it's interesting. UFO culture is apparently alive and well! Cool!

    • UFO's are real, the only question is are they extraterrestrial in origin, or from earth? Anyone who is still debating whether they exist or not should surf the net for a few days and get an education. They are 100's of saucer shaped craft in ancient cave drawings all over the world, there many in midevel artworks, they are talked about in the Egyptian tombs. Newspaper articles for 150 years, pictures back 120 years. Come on Skully how many fucping times do I have to tell you stroke from the bottom of the shaft upward?

    • our human yearn to believe in things supernatural have now evolved from antiquated angels of the past to extraterrestrial aliens of modern times. they are not real physically (only metaphysically). those things we see are projections of what we believe, not what they really are.

we are alone, unique, and, at the same time, no more important than the other animals we share this planet with, who we still seem to have a difficult time co-existing with. all this UFO hogwash is only keeping believers from fully accepting that we, human beings, are one of a kind and that our time in existence is finite.

we could never prove aliens exist nor can we ever convince anyone they don't. truth versus facts.

I have said it before and I am saying it again:

Are we so naive to think that earth is the only chunk of rock that is inhabited in the vastness of space and the thousands if not millions of galaxies or universes?
If there is a God, then he would not be very efficient or productive by letting this be so. All of that undeveloped real estate is going to waste. NOT VERY CLEVER!
Are we also so naive to think that we have to be the smartest creatures of all that exist in these thousands of galaxies?
What if we are literally millions of years behind in development in comparison to some of the others out there? Boy would we feel stupid. Well we can't be having that now can we!?
So! There are NO ALIENS, thus no alien abductions. Only one rock with one group of Most Intelligent Beings we are, driving SUVs, global warming, failed economies, cancer, aids, homeless, starvation, bigotry, wars, and addiction to fossil fuels. There has seriously got to be someone out there smarter than this.
When we evolve enough to merit a full fledged visit, then we will have one. Until then, their technology would quite possibly lead us to our own destruction.

Yes Julius pretty much says it all. The law of odds alone says were not the only ones. Then take into consider 10,000 year old artwork. I'd have to say they have always been checking in on us, and may in fact be our creators. Or just Ranchers fattning us upp for the butchering. LOL

Why do we assume that no one would come and visit this planet? Why do we assume there is no one to do so? Lets just say there was someone; what makes us think their technology couldn't be more advanced than ours?

This would diminish our significance in our own minds thus our egos and vanity would take a beating.

If it is true, it would be like the bucket of water in the "Wizard of OZ." Throw this at religion and it would begin to shrivel up like the wicked witch of the west.

Just for giggles lets suppose to some of the higher evolved entities (aliens), this earth may be some what like a museum or a zoo.

Perhaps we are their pets and we don't even know it. Kind of like a science project and we are the specimens.

They plant all kinds of cool stuff all over the planet. They bury bones, ancient writings, relics, and other artifacts so we can really give them a laugh. This could be a possibility; and with what we have, which is what they gave us, we can only basically go in the directions they steer us towards.

I am basically kidding but I suppose it could be possible. What if it is?

Play along here for a moment. Scientifically speaking, what if back in the Cambrian explosion period the sudden seemingly rapid appearance of most major groups of complex animals around 530 million years ago were actually transplanted here? This was done by what we call aliens. As you think about this, ask yourself: is this possible providing there are in fact aliens?

The only problem I see here is what we have chosen to believe. You know the feel good, belly rub stuff that religion provides us with. We want to feel like we are the ones in control and the thoughts that any of this is possible chills us to our bones.

Having said these things and suppose they are true, where does this put God? Does he/she or they still have a place or purpose? The answer could be that nothing has changed with regards to God. Or what if God is actually the aliens that we fear and/or doubt their existence so much?

I do believe there is a God or higher being that falls into the category of being the kind, loving, being that over sees all things. Does he fly in a space ship? Does he need to? What if he does? What if he doesn't? Would that really change anything or really matter?

Any or all of any of this may or may not be true but it is a possibility right? The only real roadblock here is our brains and/or egos and willingness to let go and imagine.

don't get me wrong. i think it's all wonderful fiction. belief in "higher" beings are very inspiring and consoling for us who want more meaning in life and a hope for a universal connection, like religious people! all the stuff about Greys and Nephilim beings and all that fun stuff, they all are great wonderments.

i just don't buy the modern western idea that aliens had everything to do with egyptians and mayans, as if those cultures "couldn't have come up with all that genius calendar stuff" or "couldn't have been smart enough to think of that shit on their own...must be aliens!"

plus, everyone that argues for alien life all say "if" this and "if" that. fact is, it's all very good fiction, so far.

i believe it may be more arrogant for humans to believe that we are so great that we have a special role, a connection, with other life beyond our world, more than the ants we step on.

there's still the phenomena of unexplainable lights in the sky and someone mentioned whether they be aliens or human made. those things i do not deny and would love to investigate them without conjecturing that they're all alien spacecrafts before we even know what they are.

i assure everyone that the truth is more profound than we can ever imagine. we all need to stop believing in stuff that doesn't exist, whether that be religious or pseudo-scientific things. is that too skeptical? is anyone feeling me on this?

it's not egotism or denial at all. i just want the REAL thing. the TRUTH. i know the universe is more magical than we could ever realize but stretching to think of fiction as fact, as in aliens, only obscure us from understanding our role on this planet. we should be focusing on our other earthly cohabitants and the survival of our species WITHOUT alien help.

We should stick to the facts. Fact is, there are multiple sightings of Unidentified Areal Phenoma, you may say UFOs as well, every year, all over the planet, confirmed by credible people ranging from pilots, soldiers to policemen. (Check the http://www.mufon.com database and http://www.disclosureproject.org for instance)
In light of the mass of sightings, it is reasonable to believe there are many phenomena we don't know anything about. Or if there are some in the military or government that do, they have chosen not to go public with their information.
That's it. Draw your own conclusions. New sightings will continue to occur, as they have for centuries now.

During the period of July 16-22, 1994, Jupiter was being showered with meteor fragments. I had purchased a fairly nice Mead telescope for the purpose of viewing this spectacular event. This telescope had a Barlow lens which doubles the magnification of any other lens you use. It also had dual cable controls so you could track moving objects without touching the telescope.

One night I decided to look out into space to see what else I could see. I locked in on three moving objects that were about half the size of a pin head (per the view inside the telescope). I was able to track their horizontal movement due to these cables. They were actually moving at a pretty good clip. At first I thought maybe it was a satellite until they suddenly made a 90 degree turn and headed directly away and upward from my direction. In a matter of two seconds they diminished in size and vanished.

I decided to try and watch a jetliner the next day. They fly at approximately 50,000 feet and 500 miles per hour. I had to put my telescope on an extremely low powered lens and remove the Barlow lens before I could even find it, see it and track it. Tracking it was a bit difficult as it filled most of my scope of view.

Do I believe in UFOs? Yes! For me it is not even a question.

    • ive seen some "stars" do some crazy things while star gazeing. if the "government" wont say anything about it, that only leaves room for a differnt answer of alien sorts.

    • They are absolutely real, these things are seen all over the globe. Personally I've seen half a dozen via my own star gazing. Secrets are kept for a reason, the silly Christians out there would flip there wig if a real alien showed up. Exactly how do little green men fit into the Bible?!?

Who are you to call Christians silly? You have no right to judge us by your ludicrous narrow-mindedness and your false generalisations. Looking at the big picture, God is an extraterrestrial by definition. God created the universe including Earth, therefore He had to be outside, above, etc., of the area in order to create the universe.

Now you should think twice before judging others and labelling them because it is a reflection on you and not them.
