Dozens of people were injured Saturday when a Boeing 737 jet carrying 112 people skidded off the runway while it was taking off at Denver International Airport in Colorado, airport officials said.
At least 38 people were transported to hospitals, though none of the passengers was believed to be critically injured, said Denver International Airport manager of aviation Kim Day.
Everyone aboard Continental Flight 1404 had escaped using emergency slides, said spokesman Jeff Green. There "was a fire associated with the accident" that was put out by airport services, Green said.
The flight was bound for Houston, Texas, and was taking off at about 6:20 p.m.
Several flights were delayed due to the accident, although the airport remained open Saturday night.
