I hate it when the US networks think they have to 'dumb down' British TV shows. I love UK shows! Seriously the US networks needs to get with the times and grow up...John Barrowman has revealed that Torchwood's Stateside popularity has led to the third season being toned down.
The Captain Jack Harkness actor told The People: "We're not

Personally I think British TV is about as dumbed down as you can get. It's too sophomoric.

I love Dr. Who, Absolutely Fabulous, Not Going Out, etc, all from Britain, it will be lame if they dumb it down. I always tune in to BBC America for my dose of intelligent humor etc.

There are any number of foreign films which are explicitly marked as "For Release in the USA". I am guessing it's because of the Republican War on Education waged by Ronnie the Dickhole Reagan and his brilliant idea for bussing kids under the guise of equality with the intent to destroy inner-city communities.
Who calls anyone who goes to college the liberal elitie knowing that their leadership has attended the most elite schools money can buy? Who has waged a war on science in the past 8 years (most profoundly)?
The Office was clever in Queens English, and its stupid on American Television with American actors. The whole world measures us by "Married With Children" and we have earned it. - 4 years ago

Keep it the way it is, hell make it even harder to understand so that when most Americans watch it they will learn sumthang.
Everything British is better, the office, Little Britian, the documentaries like The Power of Nightmares, they have set the bar pretty high.

Ultimately humor is rather subjective. To asume that your tastes are superior belies a level of stupidity. And the smell was from a fart in your general direction!

NOOOOO!!!! No, Americans love gritty drama! We do. Look at everything from HBO and SHOWTIME! Look at our new bleeding president. We aren't the dumb caricatures we are made out to be! I thought that the oversexualization and violence that Torchwood added to the Dr. Who universe was with the intention of making what is existentialy a show for brittish children into a popular American drama. Don't mess up that formula.

Man I love that show and the fact that they have to tone it down for the polite police is just annoying. If you are offended by something don't watch it and the arguement that there may be children exposed to the "offensive" material is just a cop out.

No please! Thats why I watch British television... because it isn't made for morons! I can't even stomach more then 5 mins or so of American TV... the comedy has to be bash you over the head obvious or people here in the US just don't get it... The sci-fi shows in the US aren't terrible.
Not to mention that Torchwood is one of my favorite shows and I would hate to have it go downhill just to appease the stupid people in the US.
Please please please don't dumb it down!

I didn't know they did that for the US lol, reminds me of that youtube thing where they ask random americans simple questions like what shape had 3 sides? or when was the 9/11? they didnt know lol.. but I think most of them were expecting such easy questions to be tricks and didn't want to answer just in case.
Anyway, the important part of this article seems to have been missed out..

Really? I haven't got into Torchwood yet (though it's on my list of shows to watch) but from what I've heard, if they tone it down, they're going to lose a lot of the appeal.
