New Massachusetts rules allow having hashish

Massachusetts police may no longer be able to arrest people for having a small amount of hashish, because a new law that decriminalizes possessing up to an ounce of marijuana could apply to other drugs with the same psychoactive ingredient, according to guidelines issued Monday.

    • I am proud of living in Massachusetts, absolutely the smartest state in the US. Not only for this law in specific, but also for the great decisions taken for the past years such as: the universal health insurance policy, the quality of care provided to HIV and drug addiction patients, the incredible effects in family planning and risk reduction, the needle exchange programs through the Harm Reduction framework. Besides that, everything is conducted in a non-judgemental philosofy where the equal rights to gay couples including gay marriage is assured, also the state has the most impressive cultural competence which is used by its goverment to care for all the immigrants living in this beautiful, rich and intelligent state of New England. If there's a meaning to the word democracy, Massachussets probably was the first to define and create it.

"Now, as long as you keep it to an ounce or less, the worse-case scenario is a $100 fine -- and it doesn't matter how many times you get caught, and there's no record of it," Walpole Police Chief Richard Stillman said. "It's a cost of doing business."

      Sorry dude, you're wrong.

Just because you live here (as do I) doesn't mean you know everything, brosef.

Also, just so everyone knows, weed isn't "legal", it just isn't a felony charge to have a certain amount, so it doesn't **** up your life.

    • I think an ounce is a good amount to start at. I'm glad this finally has a chance. I think it's too little of a crime to get jail time and excessive fines for.

    • Heck yeah... I don't get it really. I drink and smoke quite frequently but the difference in my impairment clearly defines to me the War on Drugs is similar to the US occupying foreign land terroizing people and calling their unwanted occupation, Iraqi Freedom...

If we used just 50% of budget for the war on drugs we could have universal healthcare and a lot of other nice freebies but no. Our government likes to tell US what is good for US. Personally I think if you can get prozac and any other desired prescription drug online, why in the hell can i not grow a plant in my yard and smoke it, eat it, hell even use it sew a hat if I want to? WHY NOT? Phram drugs are MUCH more harmful but with all the lobbyist for drug companies stanking up the joint in DC, what should we expect?

Come on Obama my faith is in you that you will address this issue or at least allow an HONEST dialogue on the issue. Did anyone see the doctor's response on CNN.com regarding daily use of hash? What an ass she is and sounds like the Fed's mouth piece.....

To each his own. If you don't want to smoke DON'T; If you don't beleive in GAY MARRIAGE, don't marry someone of the same sex; if you don't beleive in purchasing alcohol on Sunday, DON"T but my FELLOW AMERICANS STOP PUTTING YOUR RELIGIOUS AND SELF RIGHTOUES IDEALOGOY ON OTHERS..

Can we please ban religion now? :)

Sorry I have a lot on my mind today and covered an array of topics all of which I feel extremely passionate about....

    • I never met an angry pot head.
But I have met so many angry drunks.
I work for a corporation who is pulling everyone I know in for randoms, and so I am no longer able to have holiday "indulgence".
Our laws are ridiculous I can get wasted the night before a drug test, but one drag of a j and I lose my job.

    • Shouldn't be any big deal. One is made from the other. Hash is to pot as bourbon is to beer. Still basically the same thing. My question is, why does Mass get to have all the fun? We've got sick folks being busted by the DEA merely trying to relieve pain. Serious travesty here. But you go Mass !! Here's hoping we all catch up to you. It would be nice to see it before I die.

Is everyone voting or posting on Mr. Obama's web site? "Open for questions, Round 2" is now running.

    • cabinettags:

      Nice analogy, cabinet.
hash : 'hard liquor' :: weed : beer

it's much more potent, but just as safe as weed.
(perhaps safer--you don't have to smoke as much to get comfortably high)
