Interesting theory. Personally, since I live in California, I would like to see us go it alone. We'd be o.k. with the worlds 5th largest economy

It would be more like the 12 reserve. And if that happened the south would rise again!!! BUHAHAHA... jp. But srsly madness may start because the separation would allow the divisions to think for them self’s and change. "Possibly self reliable energy resources" ((COAL & OIL HARVEST)) but then again, the US in general would profit because it would then BE self sufficient. Even though its separate.
Not a good thing

Sounds to me like the Russians are trying to justify their "republics" breakup, soon to be followed by ever more strident calls to "reunite" when the US fails to become even a little bit fractured. In less than a generation, they have gone from an undisputed super-power into a minor player in the tiny world that is Europe. They have to find someway to absolve them of their failures. And the collapse of the USA would do it. They'd like to believe our current economic troubles are like their woes. That we will not work our way out of a recession, when a depression didn't do us in. Let them dream their little dreams and fail in their quest to return to the world stage. They have already begun to work themselves out of the ISS, what's next? UN censure for attacking their old territories? Who will they have to blame that on?

to break up, doesn't there have to be growing unrest between our regions?
nobody will go for this; it's fun to imagine and talk about, but this is a bunk allegation...

i can't say that this won't happen, but i definitely don't think it will happen by 2010!
break ups like that don't happen so quickly, it takes years, maybe decades, of unrest both from the people and the government.
we do have plenty of domestic problems in the US but none of them could possibly split us in this matter in just a year. - 3 years ago

you guys act like this is sooo "out there" What about us (america) becoming the North American Union?Thats real even if you decide to live in denial....this map however doesn't make any sense because no matter what happens we wouldnt divide inside our country....we would as a whole be combined with others..

Well, if secession where to happen, it'd be much more protracted than all these four super-states forming in a year or two. There'd be a couple of states here and there, followed by a few adjacent states, etc... Also, the US has been through much worse than this.
Take the Civil war, for example. Back then, the US was little more than a handful of associated countries, and it still took decades of political degradation before the south finally seceded. Now, the country is more of a single body, and splitting it apart would take something truly massive.
In short, I'm not sure if this guy really understands America as much as he says he does.

"Well it's hard to argue that the majority of Obama supporters were well informed." Why? Frankly I felt the opposite; how could anyone in their right mind vote for McCain/Palin? Especially once Palin joined the ticket; her radical beliefs were enough for me to be very frightened of a country led by that duo.

Pure propaganda - the map does not make a lick of sense. Living in Utah I can tell you right now that there is no way this state (or Idaho and parts of Nevada as well) would join politically with states like California. And you honestly think that Tennessee and Kentucky think the same way as Massachusetts?
The sad thing is this is not even good propaganda, just some guy drawing lines of what he thinks looks right. Just for kicks do the same with a Russian map with all its provinces(?) I sure they will think the map is just as absurd.
