"As of today, Marijuana is confirmed as completely legal in only 1 country: India. It's regulated by the government and is still considered a sacrament...

... In the countries Antigua and Barbuda(Large quantities), Kuwait(Sale and cultivation), Malaysia(Possession over 200 Grams), Saudi Arabia(Dealing/Smuggling large amounts; becoming rare to execute), Somalia, Thailand(Selling only), Singapore(over 17 Ounces), Indonesia, Bali, and possibly other countries you can actually be executed for Marijuana. In fact, over 200 people have been executed in Malaysia for drug offenses since 1974."

So what do you think about international laws on a plant that has never physically taken the life of a person in the history of human civilization? Read the blog entry and feel free to comment.

    • I'm in favor of legalization. However, I have heard that it might be in the consumer's best interest to keep illegal because of price. So I guess I'm torn. I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to pay $80 for a $20 sack, you know?

Another thing I want to add is how I think It's really sad to see how people either demonize it or abuse it. Should people really go to jail for it? Should people really use it every day?--with an exception to those in co-morbid condition. I say use it as a tool, not a tactic to escape life's turmoil.

    • The continued prohibition of cannabis for responsible adult use or for medical reasons is one of the most non-sensical laws in our society today. It is just utter stupidity to believe the crap that the government continues to feed us about cannabis being addictive or being a "gateway" drug that is going to destroy our youth. What is truly destroying our youth are laws that put many promising young people in prison for partaking in a relatively harmless plant. What also is destroying our youth is the abuse of easy to obtain pharmaceutical products that are perfectly legal and that their parents seek to have them prescribed. Personally I prefer to favor naturally occurring substances over that which was created in a lab.

    • Thanks everyone for reading and responding to my blog. I think that this is an important world issue why we continue to arrest, jail, and even execute Marijuana users and dealers. If Marijuana was legal, would there even be a criminal element to the "drug"?

    • The "prison industrial complex" is big business.

How many violent criminals were allowed to go free and terrorize because we were too busy prosecuting and incarcerating people for marijuana related offenses? More people may be dying from "marijuana" than we realize. Imagine if we had put the money, instead of targeting users, into rehabilitation of violent criminals.

    • its population control yo, its because its medicinal that its illegal, they dont want to see people to get better, they want thousands of people to die from one substance, introduce another, have more people die, and so on.and do u think that they will ever consider legalizing it? no.they have to be complicated and unjust. u kno that it takes up more then half of our court systems, with alcohol following close behind. and all they want is the godsd**** money. and all this plays into saving the planet and building jobs or make food. it helps. u figure they spend millions of thousands of dollars on global warming and nothing has changed? quit smoking ads for teenages yet its a higher kliller then aids in teens? and dont get me started on the "weed is bad" ads. who in the right dang mind, even when stoned, would leave a young kid by the pool along. or forget to pick somebody up from skool. youv heard of parents forgeting kids in cars. but i think there was somthing more to that. if ur a parent, u notice when ur kids is not naggin right next to u. somthing has to be done to get ppl to notice the benifiets of weed. and the only way to get the gov'nt in on it is to lock them all in one room with alot of weed and a hooka and u dont let them out till its. gone. itll never happen but its a good idea

    • More people are killed fighting while trying to grow the plant than those who die from using it. Legalization would stop fighting in countries such as Colombia and Bolivia.

    • No one has ever died from cannabis use. Even with the most potent herb, you would have to smoke hundreds of pounds of it in a single sitting to die... scientific studies have verified that the toxicity of cannabis for humans is practically zero.

In their studies with rats, using highly concentrated extracts of cannabis, the dosage that it took to kill the rats was so incredibly high that to equate it to a human would mean approximately a dump-truck full (about 1 ton) of regular strength buds all consumed within a short period of time....

Compare that to alcohol where a single bottle of liquor can kill or or do considerable damage if consumed in a single session.

    • The laws are ridiculous and have to change.

on Bruce Lee's death, from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

      Excerpt:
Dr. Langford, who treated Lee for his first collapse, stated after his death that, "There's not a question in my mind that cannabis should have been named as the presumptive cause of death." He also believed that, "Equagesic was not at all involved in Bruce's first collapse." Professor R.D. Teare, who had overseen over 100,000 autopsies, was the top expert assigned to the Lee case. Dr. Teare declared that the presence of cannabis was mere coincidence, and added that it would be "irresponsible and irrational" to say that it might have triggered Lee's death. His conclusion was that the death was caused by an acute cerebral edema due to a reaction to compounds present in the prescription pain killing drug Equagesic. Another doctor, Peter Wu's preliminary opinion was that the cause of death could have been a reaction to cannabis and Equagesic. Dr. Wu would later back off from this position however:

"Professor Teare was a forensic scientist recommended by Scotland Yard; he was brought in as an expert on cannabis and we can't contradict his testimony. The dosage of cannabis is neither precise nor predictable, but I've never known of anyone dying simply from taking it."

The exact details of Lee's death are a subject of controversy.

    • I think it's stupid, after all of these centuries of people growing, selling, buying and imbibing in the so called drug(remember this is an all natural product) and they still haven't been able to stop it...catch a clue! I think half of these countries are following the US lead in not legalizing...why is it we can legalize, alcohol which causes millions of accidents and deaths throughout the world, as well as cigarettes, but, marijuana, they don't? It has been proven to help medically, other resources are obtained from the hemp plant, as well-clothing, for one. Hell, they were more than likely smoking/toking in biblical times. All you religious zealots, if it were so bad, don't think God wouldhave allowed it into existence. Think about it ;)
