On Tuesday, the biggest opposition faction in the Ukraine started procedures to impeach President Viktor Yushchenko, and also called for the dismissal of Prime Minister Yuliya Timoshenko’s government. “We demand the immediate resignation of the government and the start of procedures to impeach the president”, Viktor Yanukovich, the leader of the Party of Regions, said, addressing an extraordinary session of parliament devoted to the current gas dispute between Russia and the Ukraine. He was supported by the Ukrainian Communist Party. Mr Yushchenko, whose popularity has slumped to 2.4 percent, according to the results of a poll published on Monday, did not attend the Supreme Rada session. Ms Timoshenko was, however, present.

    • The first capital city of Russia was Kiev, and there was no border between the Ukraine and Russia. They always stood together as brothers of one nation, and with the Belorussians too. The people of Russia and Belorussia were christened by a Duke from Kiev. Those three nations are just on big nation. Like the Seven Nations of the Cherokee.

Now the languages have become different over the last thousand years. The Russian language having changed more due to church influence over the centuries.

At the turn of the twentieth century, the very same financial forces from New York that financed the so called Russian revolution, also financed an anti-Russian nationalist movement in the Ukraine. That however is a contradiction of terms as any real Ukrainian nationalist is pro-Russian. Thier national identities are entertwined forever as one.

An independant Ukraine? That would be just fine for all people in Russia. Russians don't feel they need to control Ukrainian politics. However, what we see is the US controlling Ukrainian politics for the sake of turning her against Russia. Don't the people of the Ukraine deserve more than to occupy such a low and miserable place in this world? Torn from thier blood sister nation and enslaved by evil American powers that be, and sent as a slave to make war against that very sister nation that the Ukraine was always meant to be with.....

    • He has aligned himself with Bush and that has made him as unpopular as Bush. She has come a long way from pirating CD' from her living room and does not have the brains to be in the position she is in. She is out of her league and alingning with Russia. The Ukraine must be free and independent of Russia and America but that is hard to do. Would not want to try to govern that country. It is a beautiful country with peaceful people who don't go looking for trouble and just want to try to live a civilized and half decent life without war and bombs. When they annexed from Russia they told Russia to came and tke thier Nukes back, they did not want them in thier country. Kudos to the Ukraine.
