Dutch boycott on Israeli products

As all products in grocery stores are labeled with a bar code, it's quite easy to recognize goods from countries one wants to boycott. For instance, Israel has code 729xxxxxxxx.

Wow, you've been busy kuffar, just like these brave IDF soldiers
Many Israeli soldiers are signing this petition
Courage to Refuse > Israeli Combatants Letter
* We, reserve combat officers and soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, who were raised upon the principles of Zionism, self-sacrifice and giving to the people of Israel and to the State of Israel, who have always served in the front lines, and who were the first to carry out any mission in order to protect the State of Israel and strengthen it.
* We, combat officers and soldiers who have served the State of Israel for long weeks every year, in spite of the dear cost to our personal lives, have been on reserve duty in the Occupied Territories, and were issued commands and directives that had nothing to do with the security of our country, and that had the sole purpose of perpetuating our control over the Palestinian people.
* We, whose eyes have seen the bloody toll this Occupation exacts from both sides,
* We, who sensed how the commands issued to us in the Occupied Territories destroy all the values that we were raised upon,
* We, who understand now that the price of Occupation is the loss of IDF’s human character and the corruption of the entire Israeli society,
* We, who know that the Territories are not a part of Israel, and that all settlements are bound to be evacuated,
* We hereby declare that we shall not continue to fight this War of the Settlements.
* We shall not continue to fight beyond the 1967 borders in order to dominate, expel, starve and humiliate an entire people.
* We hereby declare that we shall continue serving the Israel Defense Force in any mission that serves Israel’s defense.
The missions of occupation and oppression do not serve this purpose – and we shall take no part in them.

A life in writing: Mourid Barghouti
The Guardian, Saturday December 13 2008
Interview by Maya Jaggi
I learn from trees." The Palestinian poet Mourid Barghouti gestures around his mother's terraced garden in the hilly Jordanian capital, Amman. "Just as many fruits drop before they're ripe, when I write a poem I treat it with healthy cruelty, deleting images to take care of the right ones." Barghouti has published 12 poetry books in Arabic since the early 1970s, as well as (...)
(...) Saw Ramallah, published by Bloomsbury in 2004 in a translation by Ahdaf Soueif, that first won him a readership in English. The late (...) - 3 years ago

The video above brings back memories. In London, England, there is a wonderful place near THE MALL where there were 6 academics to speak to a huge audience................only one was not there......Dr. Barghouti whom you see in the video. Israel had refused him his visa to travel and put him under HOUSE ARREST in Gaza. Later he was jailed. We think he'd have succeeded Yasser Arafat and made a good leader for the Palestinian people.........but Israel made that impossible. That night it was chilling to sit and hear Dr. Barghouti speak by sattelite link to a packed auditorium in London ................a man wronged.....a man whom we could not help. He wrote a book....I SAW RAMALLAH.
On the night in question we were remembering the academic EDWARD SAID .....it was one month after his death, Present also was Dr. Illan Pappe, the enlightened Israeli academic. He is one Israeli I have respect for. - 3 years ago

. The cease fire was to help forward the peace process, instead, 18 months before the cease fire Israel decided to tighten down the boarders and not allow much needed water, electricity, food and medical supplies into the Gaza area creating a humanitarian situation right from the get-go, and then when the cease fire took effect a year later, Israel tightened down even more creating a much worse scenario. In doing so, Israel collectively punished an entire population of a million and a half innocent people, half which are children. Hamas held out with any answer to this act of war (as noted in the United Nations/Geneva convention, rules of war, etc.."a city/country under siege is an act of war") until late November/early December-5 months into the tighter blockade and cease fire. Then, under heavy pressure from people in Gaza severely suffering from malnutrition and no water, electricity, very low food supplies, no medication and baby milk, and more...Hamas answered with a few rockets into Israel (that killed no person at all) as self defense and called off the cease fire. And a countries right to self defense against a siege is recognized in all laws and rules of war. Israel then launched the invasion, preventing anyone from the western world to witness what was going on other than what Israel said. Fortunately, there were already journalists, aid workers, and agencies and the people on the Internet that was able to send in reliable reports. Such reports have showed and proved the Israeli government has used unnecessary force, illegal use of weapons, including experimental weapons, Israel using children and civilians as Human Shields, Israel targeting journalists, Aid workers and Agencies (like the United Nations), Schools used as civilian shelters (filled with innocent children and people) as well as the direct targeting of civilians, some that were trying to get out of the Israeli Defense Force's way. The sheer use of White Phosphorous Bombs dropped in the middle of a city illustrates the criminal act of indiscriminately targeting civilians ans using an illegal weapon. The effects are long lasting and also contaminates the land besides maiming, disfiguring and killing many innocent people, many of which were children. The war crimes investigation will certainly prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Israel is in fact, liable for criminal charges, and I pray that the responsible government people of Israel are brought to justice for these Crimes against Humanity. In closing, I state again, I am not for any violence from any side of the conflict, but it is clear to me and most of the world that Israel planned this well in advance, so far in advance in fact, that the Palestinian and Gaza populations and government had no chance as they worked towards peace in the region and they did sincerely try to work towards peace. Here's a video of a debate on cnn where they prove Israel broke this cease fire>

It was just over 50 years ago, that the Dutch and Jews were being slaughtered by the Nazi's, much like the current terrorist constant actions who support and are harbored by and feed Gaza. How quick they, the Dutch, forget, how self righteous, from a country (who I've spent lots of time in and like) who used to be in the same situation and pleaded for someone to pull the trigger for them when they were being shelled. Cowards, I hate to say, but it is looks and acts like one.................

You'd be surprised.....but not if you have looked in the American till.
I know Arabs that do not buy Jewish owned or Israeli goods. They have been doinfg it for a decade I assure you,
I also buy min. of American goods as I do not want to finance their wars.
It works, and after a while there is an alternative to 98% of what American produce/products you buy.

Like anyone is going to listen to this nonsense. Arabs already pay lip service to boycotting Israel, and some radical leftists have been on that bandwagon, too, for a while now. Who is going to join them in the real world? People tend to buy what they want to buy as long as it's good quality at a good price.

"Made in Israel" (Blue-White) Headquarters
The “Made in Israel” (Blue-White) Headquarters is one of the MAI’s public committees. It was set up in 1994 with the aim of creating preference for Israeli manufactured goods among government institutions, public bodies and the final consumer in Israel and abroad. The HQ decided this year that locally manufactured products would head its list of priorities, both within and outside the MAI. As part of this strategy, steps will be taken:
1. To establish local industry and its production as one of the most important values for the existence of the Israel economy and society.
2. To ensure that everything that can possibly be produced in Israel will be bought in Israel, while giving preference to made Israel goods and providing protection for local production.
3. To awaken public opinion and that of decision makers to the essential need for support and encouragement of local industry for the benefit of the individual, society and the state.

The 729 boycott has been around for years, but a better way is the divestment campaign like White Noise said, but here are the main companies/products to boycott, mostly from the textile industry:
L'Oreal
Starbucks
JCPenny's
estee lauder
banana republic
Calvin Klein
clinique
hugo boss
diamonds (often used to build "settlements" on private Palestinian land) - 3 years ago

Israel: Boycott, Divest, Sanction
By Naomi Klein - January 8th, 2009
It's time. Long past time. The best strategy to end the increasingly bloody occupation is for Israel to become the target of the kind of global movement that put an end to apartheid in South Africa.

Appreciate that... it is far better to buy food locally grown and organic as much as possible anyway.... by the time an orange is picked in Israel, packed, transported half way around the planet, warehoused, delivered and sat in a store for a while its lost much of its nutrition.
We grow some very nice organic oranges in the U.S. - 3 years ago

This is part of the problem or the conundrum as it is.
The Israelis have made many contributions in the evolution of modern man but here we are after 2 weeks of an assault on the Palestinian people(civilians) by the Israeli GOVERNMENT. The US is equally responsible for it's assault and occupation of Iraq. Both represent a problem with governing bodies and reflects how the people have lost control of their governments to the Military Industrial Complex.
War feeds these corporations as it sacrifices the civilians as collateral damage. - 3 years ago
