Jean Marlowe and Billy believe marijuana helps them manage pain better than any prescription drugs. Many medical groups have researched cannabis for pain management and reached similar findings. Even the federal government approved its use in some instances, only to reverse course and ban patients from receiving clinical doses of the illegal plant. Bob Buckley reports a Piedmont lawmaker is working towards legalizing marijuana for medical purposes in North Carolina.

    • Hi. Concentrated cannabis hemp oil (Indian hemp, ganja, dagga, marijuana) can cure cancer and many other serious illnesses. Please watch Rick Simpson's "Run from the Cure" at www.phoenixtearsmovie.com. Please read my book "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" online free at www.jackherer.com. It is all about the history and many uses of cannabis hemp. We can end hunger, cure cancer and reverse the Greenhouse Effect with cannabis hemp!

    • I am personally for the "decriminalization" of marijuana and wouldnt mind it being legalized, but there has to be a realistic outlook on the situation. The government will not let this happen untill they can figure out a way to maximize profits.. idk the amount of money they pull in every year from marijuana related offenses but im assuring you all its at least millions. Do you think they would let themselves lose millions? if you do your way too high haha!!! The problem that i see that our govenrment is most likely going to have is if they "Decriminalize it" then they will have to find a way to generate the money they were making on it as an illegal substance...and if they try to seek to much money from taxes on it or however they try to manipulate the situation, then no one will buy from them and it will be back to a black market drug which in turn will cause them to make it illegal again due to the loss of money. Its all about money it always has been and always will be. How many people die from alchohlic drinks or related incidents per year? a TON.. but they make so much money on selling it ... taxing it... the medical bills, liscense reinstatement fees, court cost etc etc they will never make drinking illegal they have already found there way to manipulate every sector of business from it. and untill they can do the same with pot it will always just be a debate and a lost hope. The people of this country who do smoke it are too affraid to all stand up together and demand there voices be heard for fear of losing jobs or reputation, w/e they fear the fear is there. either find a way to make eveyone not affraid to stand up for what they believe in or find a way for the government to make billions.. if you can do either of those in no time it will be at your local wal mart packaged and coupons will come in the sunday paper for it.

    • Sir,

Unless you've gone through chemo or lived with chronic pain or terminal medical condition, you are talking outside your real of expertise.

there are people like that when it comes to most every substance. there are addictions for virtually anything you can imagine, and beyond. marijuana may have its addicts, but it isn't due to any physical properties in the plant. it's purely psychological, and can apply to most anything.

Can we agree that each individual has the right to make thier own choices when in chronic pain or dehabilitating nausea under chemo. The fact your sqeeeze chose pot over you, is no valid reason for saying pot destroys lives.

Sir let me inform you that I am a substance abuse conselor with police credintials. My only aim is to be helpful, not set an Stalin type agenda.

steven, it seems obvious to me that you've already decided how you feel about this and that rhetoric and facts won't change your mind.

If that's how you feel, that's how you feel. I'll not try to convince you otherwise, even though I disagree with you.

However, the right of people in pain to decide for themselves should be a given. Even assuming for the sake of discussion that you were right, then cannabis is certainly no worse than the legal drugs being offered now. If those drugs don't work and cannabis does, then who are you & I to object? It's their body. It should be their choice.

Steven you know this, I've told you before, THC kills brain tumor cells, leaving normal brain cells alone.

      1975
Researchers at the Medical College of Virginia discover that cannabis is incredibly successful for reducing the size of many types of tumors, both benign and cancerous.

Our government spin was "THC kill brain cells".

280,000,000 people have died from cancer since that study!

there are ways to ingest marijuana other than smoking it.

are you not interested in answering my question regarding prohibition?

it sounds to me like you're simply bitter over the behavior of your ex-girlfriend. instead of trying to figure out exactly what went wrong, you've decided to crusade against what you presume was the destructive force in your relationship. i'm being presumptuous myself, obviously, but there doesn't appear to be a more logical motivation behind your campaign...

as i stated, i'm just theorizing. I'M the one waiting to be enlightened. it's a reasonable theory though given the limited information i have.

sorry if i got personal, but you know the internet. people have a tendency to transcribe their thoughts directly.

    • No one who has ever gone through chemo or chronic pain would agree. Other methods of fighting pain have tendency to be addictive and can damage or affect organs. Legalized medical marijuana is way over due, in fact the fact medical pot isn't legal could be considered cruel if not criminal. Those that deprive those that are ill, have obviously never faced throwing up from nausea of chemo or having to take hand fulls of Vicodan to fight chronic pain, both which can be address through a few puffs of pot.

To master the obvious it is not addictive nor kills thousands of American's each year like alcohol does.
