Darfur experiences more death and destruction

Image

Khartoum puts the death toll at 10,000, which is bad enough, but I think a bit short of the real death toll. International experts say it's more like 200,000, which sounds about right.

    • As far as I can tell, there is simpy zero interest on the part of the world's nations to do anything at all to end the genocide in Darfur. Not only that, it's not the only humanitarian crisis in the world; just look at Congo.

President Obama has made some remarks about helping Darfur, but his hands are full with Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Israel-Palestine. How much attention will he be able to pay to Sudan?

So, it's hard to see anything being done to stop this genocide anytime soon.

    • Be sure to watch ElModernisto's video above "Christmas in Darfur." It's very good, and it makes one think.

    • I don't think its a black or white issue its an economic issue. The economies of most nations today is in the toilet, jobs being lost etc. How many nations want to spend the money it will take to do something and make it work.

    • I'm sick of hearing the blaming of the U.S, and Israel. There are plenty of other Countries too that should be offering to stop this Purge of Human life. If it takes eliminating every single one of the Bastards one by one the World needs to get it's shit together and get er done. Talk is over! Engaging in peaceful negotiations is not going to work..You wanna hug a terrorist? Be My guest. We don't love the Terrorist and hate the Terror when Genocide is at issue. I don't have any warm and fuzzy feelings for the cowardly PIGS!!! I HATE WAR!! But I hate Terrorists more okay, so don't preach any Liberal Pablum Puking Garbage Okay? Keep ur crap to urselves!

    • I recently seen an interview with a doctor in Darfur. He said they had been told over a year ago that help was on the way from the Red Cross and other organizations.
He was still waiting a year later and figures he'll be there waiting another year, and no one will come.

    • This genocide along with every other one that has happened should never get this far. Turmoil and tribulations these people are facing need to be ended, and blaming Bush for this crisis is ignorant. One, he cannot do anything without the Congress' approval, and apparently it is a Democratic Congress so don't blame the Republicans either. You need to not blame anyone, because we need to take control instead of sit around a table fussing.

    • Sudan supports Hamas. Through Sudan, weapons travel into Egypt. On the way, they kill blacks. I can recall at Venice, there were these guys that called themselves the real Jews, they were very dark, and wore only black. When Moses liberated the Jews, historical evidence shows many Nubian slaves came also. It was the first nation of multi racial refugees. Those very same who support the mullahs, who kill Darfurians, who kill Fatah members, who ruin Islam, who keep their people poor, they are the problem. But they are people too right.

    • Once upon a time I thought this was an easily solvable black and white issue... then my friends and I went to the Chad/Sudan border to shoot a film about the crisis in Darfur (see link). Now I am flummoxed.

    • The Chinese have a real big stake in Darfur oil and paying off the warlords to drive the civilians off the rich lands is just fine with them.

    • While you all are awaiting for President Obama to make a statement have you considered the fact he has only been in office since tuesday, and that we do not know what Bush did or did not do prior to leaving office that could cause international harm should he act like the last cowboy did. And, what do we do send in shipment of food, medicine, doctors or send in a army. But where will we get the army from? How many of you out there screaming for action are willing to put your life on hold and go fight or work with the Red Cross? And what part of the world is in the worse shape. The liberals are already screaming bloody hell he is not doing for the economy, we are losing our homes, people in Dakar are losing their lives. Which one is more important to you.

We gave bush 8 years to fuck us, lets give President Obama at least a week before bringing out the rope.

    • Send Bashir to the ICC for crimes against humanity. He should sit alongside all of the other murderers who are getting away with it in this world and those who were just permitted to go slink back to Texas and other points as if they did nothing wrong. Amazing how even Americans can simply forget about all of the blood on our hands. And Darfur does have oil. That's why China is there enabling Bashir. Wonder what Secretary of State Clinton is going to say about this if anything? Not one word out of hers or President Obama's mouth yet about Darfur. Still waiting.
