Chicken Little Science: The Power of Panic

Image

Al Gore is not an expert in climatology, as a matter of fact he is only an expert on manipulation. That is all any politician can ever really be an expert in. So, I watch herds of basically well meaning people, march towards a cliff they can’t see because they have been blinded by their own good intentions.

    • We have had 8 years of Chicken Little motivating us to make the world a worse place.

Is it not about time to have a different Chicken Little motivate us to make the world a better place?

For my money, my vote and my belief, the CO2 connection and melting ice caps is pretty solid. You have not even begun to shake it.

Talk fast, and don't screw up, because you won't have long to make your case.

    • Isn't Gore the chairman of Current? Anyway cfls can be replaced with leds. As for the rest...they forgot to attack wind and hydro power. If we could have only contained the energy of that rant though!

    • Now this is the definition of selectivity....The author (Jessica Pacholski) SELECTIVELY ignores how the Bush administration manipulated us though the power of terror.

I don't know if Gore's view has benefited from the power of Panic, I only know that America has suffered from Bush's use of the power of Terror. I also know that a fair article would have at least said as such.

    • Most of the world's sceintists think that global warming is being at the minimum exacerbated by pollution, and to ignore them, because we "America" assume we are always right is arrogant and ignornant.

    • true, anxiety is the only one true emotion, all other ones are rational. basic tool to control people, all in all.
Maybe the question should be (if global warming is true, of course) why is it also happening when people are realizing that losing their 401ks may just truly show that we were all accomplices of something we willingly and cowardly gave up liability for how "it" created profit, regardless of injustice and unfairness. we bought immunity for a highly profitable portfolio that, when gone, no one knows who did it. Most are still free, and, regardless, we keep on giving billions to these ... financial leaches.
global warming is as real as the need for less bullshit through out all communities, proven true in the community of business.
the one community smelling really well is science, hence its escalation w religion. facts are facts and cold weather during winter is nothing less than expected, weather will get weird with more pollution, not less extreme, on the contrary.
regardless of technicalities and prognostications, the $ faucet going towards wall street has to be closed now and poured into the switching into complete green energy, and the US become the main exporter of this technology, the end.
even if you were not to believe in the need for no pollution, there is enough evidence that if this was not the reason, it would simply not happen, and such a dichotomy is true only because most of us find understanding difficult, things and each other. Again, the question may be why its all happening at the same time in so many levels. Maybe its information, “truth is permanent, and everything else falls by the wayside”

Well said. I think "climate change" is more important than people realize. Too many people think it has to be hot to be "global warming". Plus many won't believe anything until it smacks them in the face. Sadly by the time it hits them in the face, it will be too late!

    • Well, may-be, it's better to use use panic for a positive shift (the environment) than to use panic for a war (war on terror).
