Sure, tens of millions of Americans will be hunkering down in front of their television sets with friends and family tomorrow to ostensibly watch the Super Bowl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals, but as we all know the day of the Super Bowl is America’s showcase for the most expensive and often creative commercial television advertisements of the year.
That’s all fine and dandy, but how much cooler is NORML’s first ever SuperBOWL Pro-Marijuana Law Reform Ad Contest? Heh?!
$10,000 in cash prizes and NORML swag is up for grabs for the most creative pro-marijuana law reform ad—and YOU and your friends are the judges to determine this year’s winners.
.....
Lots of well done videos were entered, which one would YOU like to see aired on national television?
Voting online for the winners will last one week and end at midnight (PST), Sunday, February 7, 2009.
I encourage all of you to help spread these videos by posting them everywhere you can! Also, go to the YouTube page and vote it up if you like it!!

it IS interesting that so many people take such a high and mighty anti-marijuana law that is so outdated that it has been an expensive issue as long as I can remember, and I am NOT a spring chicken.

I like this article not only because of the ridiculous amount of cash that it costs for us to put people who actually do smoke pot, from the arrest (cash) to the arraignment (cash) to the next court date (cash) to the possibility of jail (MUCH more cash)
I do not smoke pot anymore, but am re-thinking that whole thing. I have a spine that has been twisted forty times to Sunday that they have NO problem prescribing hard core meds for, why not pot? I do not know that it would give me ALL of the relief that I need, but it most definitely give me my sleep. Living in Colorado, that is something that *I* can do if I go at it, not so much for others.I hope that Our fantastically well educated, intelligent president considers this as he works down the list of "things that do not work" he will get to this "war on drugs" and decide which way our future will go. And hopefully, it will go the correct way, and the way that it needs to go. A gigantic savings of money constantly being wasted by the government for the above listed.
Thank you for hearing me out.

I'd love to see you walk into a California dispensary and start talking that kind of shit about NORML. I guarantee you'd get ripped a new one!
Any intelligent person who is supporting this cause knows that NORML has played a very important part in this fight for liberty. Stop being ignorant, NORML does not equal High Times and even if it did you're reasoning for hating on either of them is fucked up and counter-productive.
What have you done to help out??

Oh, my bad, you ARE a terrorist dissenter. You are critically flawed in your thinking that being a general waste of space and resources is going to get you anywhere. Your plan is to waste as much government money as you can (which comes from tax payers), and to kill police officers. Ya, you're a real progressive thinker!

Here's your civil disobedience Mutated Majority! Lets see if this kid makes a difference... somehow I doubt it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to shit all over him and accuse him of corruption if he doesn't get cannabis legalized, I'm not an asshole like that...

As the Beatles said:
You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the planI understand your yearning for revolution and that you think everyone should just rise up against the machine, but that doesn't always work, we still have probably about 50% of the population who is still influenced by our history of government misinformation. That is what NORML has been working on, educating the public. Without public support you will just be made out to be terrorist dissenters and thrown in jail.
If you really want to make a statement I suggest you head to Washington DC for the Real Million Marijuana March this July 4th... follow the link and read all about it. A massive public protest is in the works.
In the meantime you would be wise not to bash NORML anymore, it is extremely offensive and insulting to the many people who work for and support them, their work IS IMPORTANT regardless of how you think it measures up!

I think that Obama winning the presidential election as well as the democrats taking the House that we are entering a time where people want change and are willing to think rationally about problems in society. With about 42% of the public saying that they have at least tried cannabis, and many more who haven't tried it, but realize that it shouldn't be a crime... I think we may actually have a majority in favor of at least decriminalization and legalization is the only real rational way to regulate it.
I think YOU have the public pegged wrong! I think we are nearing the tipping point for support of the majority. The 'bible-thumping' conservatives are no longer in power and have lost ALOT of credit over the last 8 years of Bush's irresponsible and irrational governing.
Yes we can! BUT, we need all the help we can get in rallying the support of the public. Organizations like NORML have and will continue to prove themselves as the most effective ways to educate the people and push for changes in the law. You are foolish to discredit them.
I hope you do murder a cop and get locked up for life, you are a danger to ever getting the majority to accept our proposal because of your extremist views. That is not the way to gain respect and support!

You make it sound so easy, if you know how to do better than PLEASE DO!! But stop bad mouthing honest people for not doing what you think is enough. We have 13 states with legal medicinal marijuana and several with decriminalized status as well as a rapidly growing awareness of the reality of cannabis and hemp. I guarantee you that if NORML didn't exist this would not be the case. They have done far more than you give them credit for and that is why I think you, Mr. Muted Majority, are a complete jackass!

I partially agree with you that we shouldn't have to follow unconstitutional laws, but the world is not that simple. If you think civil disobedience, without full public consent, is going to do shit about it, then go ahead!! Like I said, please, make your statement! Go light up a fatty on main street of your nearest city with a sign hanging around your neck saying that what you're doing is not a crime. See how far that gets you!
This war is a war of information and ideals. The government has their reasons for ignoring our cry. Many people have fought tooth and nail for cannabis and you just wanna piss all over them saying it's not enough and it's all in vain. If it's not enough and you know how to do it so easily then what the fuck are you doing on Current bad mouthing the very organization that would support you. Go out and fix it if you know how!!
Problem is that you can't do shit about it but sit around and whine that nobody is doing anything to change the laws.
From the Beatles - Revolution
You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright

Who told you that they are?? For all I know YOU are a DEA troll trying to slander NORML. It is clear you know little to nothing about who NORML is and what they do.
Take your unfounded conspiracy theories and shove them up your ass! NORML is a good organization and has stood up to the government on many occasions and continues to do so. You bad mouthing them is very insulting and only makes you look like a giant ass or a crazy fool!

NORML is the oldest and largest national organization dedicated solely to marijuana law reform. Since 1970, NORML has educated the public, litigated, and lobbied for a more reasonable treatment of marijuana consumers in federal, state, and local laws and policies. Some of NORML's accomplishments include testifying before President Nixon's National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse, a commission which subsequently recommeded that marijuana use be decriminalized; spearheading a drive throughout the 1970's which resulted in 11 states decriminalizing possession (including New York); throughout the 1980's assisted state-level efforts on behalf of medical marijuana patients, which led to 36 states endorsing the medicinal use of marijuana; simultaneously waging a legal battle with the DEA to make marijuana legally available as medicine, a battle which continues, despite the 1988 ruling of chief DEA Administrative Law Judge Francis Young that the DEA should stop standing in the way of medical marijuana.
....
They are and have been doing more than anyone. If you don't think that's enough then I say again, FUCK YOU you ungrateful uneducated mother fucker! The people of NORML are my heroes!

NO WAY!!! NORML has been on the forefront of this battle. They help organize and fund initiatives that have gotten medicinal laws passed in many states as well as working in general to increase positive truth-based information about Cannabis and Hemp.
I can't believe you would accuse them of being double agents, just out to stab us in the back. That's ridiculous!
What bogus information about UA's do you claim you got from them?

WOW!! So you're bad mouthing NORML because you bought a cleansing tea and failed a piss test???
It's your fault you failed, not NORML's. You obviously knew you had a UA to take, got high anyways and thought that drinking some tea would make you fail-proof. Nothing is fail proof, I'm pretty sure even products marketed purely for passing UA's cannot claim 100% effectiveness.
A responsible adult would have not have been getting stoned while on probation. I personally went a year clean. I waited till the day I got my paper saying I was no longer on probation.
It wasn't NORML nor the tea that got you put back in treatment, it was YOU.
I don't give a shit what personal vendetta you have or what warped conceptions you have about NORML. Personally I know that they have done soooo much to further our cause.
If you like the civil disobedience method rather than trying to inform the public and pushing pro-cannabis initiatives like NORML has been doing for a long time now... then FINE!!!
Go out, smoke a joint in front of the police station as a public act of disobedience. Get arrested, that's fine with me if that's how you think you can get your point across. Personally I think NORML's methods are much more far reaching and have a greater impact than any one act of disobedience.

No, no you don't know what you're talking about. You trying to say that NORML is the DEA and that they are just taking peoples money and not doing anything to change the laws PROVES to me that you really don't understand how important NORML is to the cause. Your statements and underlying logic is infantile and completely unfounded.
Do your research, NORML isn't a single consolidated entity, it is comprised of many many people in all states (and even other countries) who have united in cause to educate the people and fight for law reform. Many of those people don't even get paid for the work they do. How can you accuse people in a non-profit organization comprised of regular citizens, not corporate CEO's but regular people who feel passionate about changing the laws and you're accusing them of being completely corrupt and two faced.

First, look at the association of the first prohibition (alcohol's prohibition) and the Great Depression. Then look at the current prohibition (marijuana prohibition) and the current economic situation... kinda eerie. NORML is fighting the good fight. You could say the same thing about soldiers. If they fought to end war wouldn't they be out of jobs? Except I know some very good people that have served our country in the armed forces and they definitely don't want to see the perpetuation of war for the sake of having a job.

I would love to know why people like you are so opposed to legalization. Is it that you really like wasting money? Do you just hate people? Hey, how about we make alcohol illegal again! I bet you'd like that. And while we're at it, let's arrest everyone for smoking cigarettes, too. That will fix this country real gooood.
