To the delight of a packed courtroom in Vancouver, Justice Marvyn Koenigsberg said federal regulations that limit people’s access to medicinal cannabis are “constitutionally invalid” and gave the government a year to amend the rules.

So far I am very disappointed on what Obama has said his position was concerning marijuana.
I've been a supporter of him from the time he announced he was running. Of course I still am, because I do agree with him on most issues. (I would have supported Dennis Kucinich, but he had no chance!)
But when he picked Biden for VP, that made me very concerned about how an Obama Presidency would treat the "war on drugs" issue. As a Senator, Biden was co-sponsor of the Rave Act. A bill that was blocked several times, only to be passed when it was thrown in with the Patriot Act. I thought with Obama as President, he would have a different view on the "Drug War" & the screwed up Prison system in the United States. I thought his background of working in the inner city of Chicago, would give him a different perspective on the whole mess! I thought we would have some "Change" on these issues!
Yes the pick of Eric Holder as Attorney General is 100,000 times better than John Ashcroft or Alberto Gonzales, (I don't think Holder will make putting Tommy Chong in prison his #1 goal!) He couldn't be worse!
But...
I am now left wondering who will President Obama pick as his Drug Czar?Yo President B! We Voted for Change!

I live in constant pain 24/7 and my doctor took me off of a high dosage of morphine last summer. (I had been on that medicine for approx 8 years, and it was barely cutting the pain enough for me to almost function as a handicapped person and not need alot of extra help.) I thought I was going to die. Truly. He didn't put me in the hospital, though I did end up in the emergency room on a couple occasions.
If there were an easy answer to curing pain and migraines and the nerve problems that are starting leading to the loss of the use of my legs, I would say legalize it for all that can use it safely.

It's not the miracle drug you guys make it out to be...
And should be Rx'ed with the greatest of caution.
I was exposed to it where it contaminated a well's ground water for several months. I bathed in the water and I drank about a gallon of water a day. (Weed was grown like mad on the property.) I was unaware of the situation. Until they started to become hostile that I wouldn't purchase weed. I had horrible health problems, from bursting lymph nodes all over my neck and other areas, all kinds of misc stuff. Sometimes the raw areas were huge, I still have scaring. When I was given bottled water by a friend to drink for a month I healed. I didn't expect that. But I promised to try the water, and it made me well.
And the smoke made me nearly stop breathing. If they did it in the house.
Yeah I know I'm probably the only person in the world allergic to weed. And how lucky, but I'm allergic to all grasses, most trees and most other green parts of plants as well. Thank God I can eat salad!

arcticspirit, I post in support of legal cannabis/hemp because it could aid many people, but I am truly sorry you have allergies which would make it a problem for you.
My goal is not to inflict suffering on anyone. Unfortunately many people are allergic to many things which they must avoid. I am always amazed by the number of people who have allergies to peanuts. We can't outlaw everything which causes allergic reactions. You have my deepest sympathy for your allergies and your pain.

I tell you what guy. I am allergic to alcohol. The few times I have tried it in my adult life, my face will get puffy & turn bright red. So I live with it & don't drink. Which is a good thing, because I am a type II diabetic.
Life is not fair. Deal with it!

First their dollar with the Queen of England on it( lil' weird) is worth more than ours, then this. When is somebody (Named Barack, just a hint) going to see that one sweet little plant can save us all. The major issues of this generation are the Economy, Healthcare, Energy and the Environment. Decriminalization of Cannibus covers them all.

I wonder what kind of thoughts a decision like this would give a man like Obama? Maybe none?
