Wells Fargo Cancels Vegas Retreat

It's a tradition for Wells Fargo & Co. to reward top employees with a lavish junket. In previous years, though, the company hadn't just received a $25 billion bailout from taxpayers.

    • I am now listening live on msnbc, that this was not a high level junket for executives, but rather a 4 day business meeting to reward high performers that placed mortgage loans.

The rest of the story: A conspiracy between real estate agents, appraisers, mortage lenders, and politicians to inflate prices and approve loans to people unable to afford the loan has been a leading cause of the current situation.

    • It makes me ill to think about the past years when these same "high achievers" were entertained and Wells Fargo wrote off the cost as a "business expense".
