i heard about this two years ago and the real problem seems to be how to kill HIV without killing the person or causing great discomfort...if they can cure this thing maybe i won't ever have to get a cold again either

Perhaps a testicular implant which excretes this gel during sex is in order? I wouldn't mind carrying around a third rock if it kept me safe.

It should be clear that this is a technical solution & just one weapon in the arsenal. As rightly put above this is just one way how you can be infected 70% of exposures. Remember nothing can replace good judgement, morals (by whatever definition), fidelity, sexual tolerance, abstinence & other proven & widely acceptable methods. However for women who cannot negotiate safer sex & are in unreasonable-male-dominated sexual relations characterized by multiple partneships, this is better than no protection at all. It will empower women & can be controlled without male influence. for this reason i support this.

Hello people let me tell you about this technology. This was already perfected during the Clinton administration. At the tail end, just before Bush took office. Once Bush came in he changed the Whitehouse policy towards aids prevention to abstinence based. This literally killed the development of these gels into a readily marketable product for use in the fight against HIV transmission and risk reduction.
This gel would be particularly useful to women in Africa and India; where women cannot say no to their husband when he wants to penetrate her - that her husband sleeps with prostitutes when he is away from her and brings HIV to their union.
Its high time that this gel has been finally brought out of the closet and dusted off.

This is really great news. But I got to thinking. So you you use the gel when you're about to have sex with a infected person? I'm really confused because if you know the person you are about to have sex with has AIDS then why in the world would you continue on with that in the first place? Can someone clarify for me please?

karismatichick:
Aids is actually extremely easy to kill before it has infected anyone, rubbing alcohol will kill it.
Its after the infection takes hold that it becomes so hard to kill. Also remember that currently we cannot kill any virus after the infection has taken place. We still cannot cure the common cold because it is a virus and it must run its course. Unfortunately with aids, its course is done when it has killed whoever it has infected.
