There is no other news of a tsunami or any damages or injuries as of yet. I wonder what it is that makes a tsunami happen, seemingly, one time and not another.

I don't know much about the scale of earthquakes, but it seems awfully lucky that no one got hurt

I'm just glad no one was hurt, or at least reported so.
Earthquakes are terrifying and hopeless disasters to be caught in, and a 7 on the scale is no joke.
I've been worried about another big quake happening here in Cali for a while now, the LA area is overdue for a bad one.

Tsunami is caused when there's a major jolting shift of the earths crust. The disaster that hit a few years ago was caused when a huge shelf under the ocean supposedly lifted up and slammed back down.
Some earthquakes are strong but don't necessarily create that kind of motion.
Hawaii is another source for a Tsunami, supposedly one large section of Oahu could possibly fall off into the ocean if there was a major earthquake and would cause a massive tsunami that would likely reach the West coast of America.

Shit that sucks for Indonesia and that region, wonder if this has anything to do with stealing and draining the life out of the ‘Aina (Land in English), thanks to non-innovative developments to capture green technologies. Not like it wasn’t an issue 20 years ago, when studies showed increases to persuade governments to conserver and implement these technologies then and not 20 years from now. We here in Hawai’i in are fortune, unlike nations like many other Pacific Nations will be extinct peoples’ in the next century thanks to events like this. Kiribati, Palau, Tokelau, Tvalu, Vanatu, Tahiti (French Polynesia), Cook Islands, Easter Island, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Marshall Islands, and many others will be lost because of events caused by human exploration and greed to steal earth’s natural elements that keep it alive. For 70 years Hawai’I has not been hit with a Tsunami, the next time it hit’s I would think it may be deadly? Aloha sorry to have rambled.

I lived in San Diego a few years ago and they issued a Tsunami warning. There had been an underwater earthquake off the coast of northern California. I remember that they were issuing a warning, prior to knowing what kind of earthquake it was just in case. But they talked about horizontal and vertical quakes. If it were one and not the other there would be a Tsunami caused from it. It turned out to not cause any damage, other than mass exodus from the coastal communities. I lived on high ground, I found the whole situation to be interesting though. It happened soon after the 2004 disaster.
