Bush officials could be prosecuted, Senate Judiciary Chairman Leahy says : Video

bansheewail
Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) said in an interview Tuesday evening that Bush Administration officials could be criminally prosecuted if they lied under oath as part of a proposed investigation into Bush-era abuses.

Leahy chose his words carefully, to be sure. But his words went slightly farther than that of other Congressional Democrats, who maintain that probing abuses of the Bush era is critical to preserving the integrity of law.

"You're going to have people, some people will say, let's go ahead and prosecute everybody," Leahy told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow Tuesday. "That can take 10 or 15 years. Others want to ignore everything. I don't agree with that."

-Accomplices are criminals, too. I hear we are about to have a really nice, empty prison in Guantanamo Bay. Cuba is so nice this time of year. -

    • If you are still defending the Bush administration you are either retarded or high on paint fumes. Laws were broken and if you broke a law this bad you would have been in jail a long time ago. If these people are aloud too get away with these crimes I believe many of my fellow americans will take justice into our own hands, and deliver the needed punishments for these crimes. Oh Ya clownpuncher you are a traitor for your words.

You really better watch what and how you say what you say because threatening a past president could be a big mistake on your part. I'm talking felany...jail time...you can say what you want but not threatening ..

Kenny is no where near a felony.

Now the President lying the country into a war ? FELONY !

Wiretapping innocent Americans ? FELONY !

      Authorizing torture ? FELONY !

Robbing BILLIONS of Dollars ? FELONY !

These only to mention a few.

An American Citizen speaking his mind ? PATRIOT !

    • This is a yawner. The left has tried for 8 years to mail Bushs hide to the barn door. They could not so Bush was the idiot and the people who could not catch him in all these blatant violations were cast as the watchdogs of the Constitution. What a lie.
If the rule of law were to prevail, Obama would not be president and we would not have Leahy and his ilk masquerading as Americans on Capital Hill. Hillary would not be Sec of State and all the criminals in the current administration (more than in the previous one but hey, they are Dems and liberals so it's ok) would be unemployed.

    • Anything to distract from the disastrous spending bill, reported to HURT the economy by the Congressional Budget office.

Cheer if you want to sheep, you are being sheared while they bash Bush.

    • Leahy is just putting on a show...

Nobody will be prosecuted, especially bush.

We need someone who IS willing to prosecute bush and all of his administration officials for their crimes, not someone who is just going to bullshit around when the truth is out.

    • If we, the US, don't go after them, another country will.
As a result, we will look like the ultimate world losers.

    • I think what Leahy says makes sense. It doesn't have to be a witch hunt, but it is imperative that something other than throwing money around is learned from this...

Like FOX is any better? Bill O'Reilly never has an intelligent thing to say about anything, it's all just emotional appeal, facts he pulls out of his a--, or he ends up making himself look like a--hole by yelling at his guests.

You know it was OK for Clinton to lie under oath in the supreme court no less. Oh, but it was about personal stuff, I mean he and that girl didn't even have sex.... besides she was a plant from the right... gee all my dictionaries say putting someones genitals in your mouth is sex for both parties and HE lied under oath in the supreme court.. but that's ok he was charasmatic and boyish and gee, the girls couldn't help them selves...

    • Give it time. The axe will fall. I have faith that the Rule of Law will prevail. It's not about Right or Left, it's about right or wrong.
