Japan's Finance Minister Might Be Drunk

clemwilson
Japan's finance minister said he would resign after the opposition party claimed that he appeared drunk at a news conference during a meeting in Rome of finance officials from the Group of 7 industrialized countries.

Nakagawa said he will step down after fiscal 2009 budget bills were passed by the lower house of parliament. This will leave Japan without a finance minister and a chief banking regulator as the nation deals with its worst economic condition in 35 years.

    • Jim Rogers said last year that the world leaders should forget stimulus packages and bailouts and get drunk in a bar. I guess Nakagawa took the advice to heart and did just that. Politicians in Japan are worse than useless and spend most of their time bickering. I guess Nakagawa just couldn`t take any more. I can understand as I live in Japan.

    • Hell, he IS the global economy. Look in the mirror.

Actually seems sort of appropriate; " So sorry stocks.,, so sorry economy,.. take -e wee dip,... we take-e wee nip." Cant really hold it against him. Hell, when you take a hit- take one. Just try to keep on walking forward.

    • Another example of how much Japanese culture values the validation of other people. He isn't even willing to argue on his own terms because his reputation may be tainted (allegations are not exclusively truths).

    • Politics are dumb - if only a politician were dislike for policy and not the mere single appearance of possibility of him being drunk. Sure it was the G7 summit, quite important, but if his job is still getting done, it shouldn't be the only reason for resignation (which it probably wasn't).

    • Seem OK to me. Did you see those pics of Bush at the Olympics with the two secret service agents holding him up? Check out this link to Lord Owens claim that Bush's blood sample was loaded with alcohol when they treated him after he allegedly choked on a pretzel watching football and fell on his head. The video of him at a wedding 6 years after he supposedly went dry is hilarious.
