Sponsored by: Earthjustice
The EPA is ready to approve a monstrous, 1,500 megawatt coal-fired power plant - without any CO2 controls - on Navajo land in New Mexico. The Desert Rock coal plant will inundate native communities with health-robbing pollutants that cause asthma and heart attacks and spew 12.7 million tons of CO2 greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year.
Desert Rock is a centerpiece of Bush-era plans to spread coal power across the land without regard for its environmental havoc. But thanks to President Obama, the EPA now must listen to what we have to say. This is the chance we all have been waiting for - to be heard!
We only have until February 23 to speak up and help build a groundswell movement in support of controlling this plant's air pollution. Tell the EPA to impose the strictest-possible CO2 controls - making it the first plant in EPA history to have such limits.

Where the hell is Obama on this one. SILENCE.....This is another criminal act by our government. The Indians haven't any rights so lets beat them down some more. The US has taken everything away from them and called it progress. I am sick of this government and its crooked policies. And if your think for one minute Obama is going to change this mess, I believe, you're wrong. I loved to be proven wrong and see Obama put a halt on this project.

Your exactly right. It does have to stop.
I've posted this excerpt before, but I think it illustrates the reason why people don't accept climate change as a fact, or any other environmental problem for that matter.
I thought the following passage from the award -winning-masterpiece "The Gods Themselves" would be appropriate. It's brilliant and was written in 1972.
"Practical Politics-and the death of a world" By Isaac Asimov
"Let me give you a lesson in practical politics." Senator Burt looked at his wristwatch, leaned back and smiled. "It is a mistake," he said, "to suppose that the public wants the environment protected or their lives saved and that they will be grateful to any idealist who will fight for such ends. What the public wants is their own individual comfort."
"Now then, young man, don't ask me to stop the Pumping. The economy and comfort of the entire planet depend on it. Tell me, instead, how to keep the Pumping from exploding the Sun."
Lamont said, "There is no way, Senator. We are dealing with something here that is so basic, we can't play with it We must stop it."
"Ah, and you can suggest only that we go back to matters as they were before Pumping."
"We must"
"In that case, you will need hard and fast proof that you are right."
"The best proof," said Lamont, stiffly, "is to have the Sun explode.

Never mind putting Co2 controls on it, it should not be built in the first place! There are already two plants in this area. They don't need a third one.

Why EPA cannot do this on its own right? Coal it is the wrong energy, wrong business, wrong economy and the wrong job.
