Saying he was "curious" and calling it a "stupid mistake," Rodriguez gave details about how he and a nameless cousin experimented with steroids from 2001 through 2003 while he was a member of the Texas Rangers.

this article has the wrong title. A-Roid didn't "come clean." he simply told a whole bunch of new and more disastrous lies. lies lies lies.

His karma, but on the other hand, who cares his body they have too much incentives to do these things i.e. Athletes make too much money for what they do, should a person who educated you or your child save your life provide you with food make much much less than people who can play ball ridiculous.

I really couldn't care less about his drug use. Performance enhancers are extremely commonplace whether they be blood doping, steroids or diuretics.
If the commission wants an endless "drug war" fine but leave government out of it! - 2 years ago

I don't know how anyone here can hate on this guy, he made a mistake and he's dealing with it. Do you know how many other players haven't fessed up or will deny it until the day they die.
ASIDE FROM THAT...
Try and GOOGLE
'Alex Rodriguez donations to charity'And just see how much this guy has donated to SEVERAL charities. Should A-Rod's donations all be taken back because he used performance enhancing drugs?
There are so many other important things to focus energy on in the world... forget about this guy! As far as I'm concerned if he takes roids or not I don't personally care so long as he keeps giving all that money to all those different charities.

There's another issue we just can't get around to admitting.
A guy who catches balls, throws them, chases them and hits them up toi and over a fence is so valued for his genius in improving the American economy that he nearly makes as much (for drugging himself half-witless) as do drug dealers, bankers and auto execs.
Supposedly we live in a an economically astute country. A bastion of Rational Capitalism which places a very high premium on skills vital to the economy. The home plate of Freedom [patented]
Despite the downturn, nor is there any indication that baseball, football, basketball and hockey will be moved off shore to jo9in the rest of our economy and save on salaries.
Instead we treat our blue-collar best like kings, but who really don't merit big paychecks, let alone enormous paychecks for doing things which are, objectively, silly. More cynically to engage in these "sports" they must endeavor to drug themselves, and thanks to the drugs, become become profitably unhinged.
Like so much else - the Olympics is a prime example - our sense of proportion, fairness, a level playing field and (god forbid!) sportsmanship and honor, has been extinguished for profit.
Admitting our own vulnerability to corruption, we can't really blame guys who cheat for big money. That we then go and watch these freaks perform for us? Idiocy.
Part and parcel of a system that needs to be cleaned up, with people paid, capitalistically, for the usefulness of what they can do, not because the system can be extorted to concentrate wealth where it is least useful.

i don't see what the big deal is with steroids either
the consumers put athletes in a position where they can earn tens of millions if they perform a little better than the next guy and get mad when they use a performance enhancing drug. If you were a budding athlete and you can get that little edge over the next guy by doing something that doesn't hurt anyone else (unless you go into a blind rage and break someone.. which i mean.. who thinks they're actually going to do that) and risk of detection is quite low would you do it?
almost anyone serious about training uses supplements of one form or another. it's not hard for people to take that little step from using legal testosterone to illegal testosterone. athletes are obviously the prime market for these drugs but there is a cottage industry selling to law enforcement (! can you see why nobody cares lol), fire fighters, soldiers, the bouncers in front of the bar, etc.
i don't like the idea of doping (i like my balls).. but it doesn't seem like the worst thing in the world to me

If you look at it from his peer's point of view, it's like he got a promotion over them by cheating. It's a big deal because he is a role model and children need to learn how to succeed fairly.

Absolutely right.
In more general terms you are describing a system which is so morally and ethically bankrupt that it will be the ruin of us all.
Not only do children need to succeed fairly and prosper for it, but adults need to be able to trust that our system of laws and benefits isn't a rigged game bent on the institutionalized degradation and humiliation of the majority of the population.

i agree with your points. my main issue with the whole steroids ordeal is that i think major league baseball should handle their own affairs and not bother the supreme court with this fiasco.

We a sports fans should not allow his or any other player linked to Steroids. We need to start boycotting MLB until they put a strict drug testing policy with severe penalties for those who CHEAT!

We all make mistakes, Rod. It's just always different for you and peers, than it is with people like myself.
You should resign from baseball, you total schmuck. A "fortune" handed to you, aka "playing in a park all day"and you can just say, "I did a stupid thing", and all is back to normal, right?? There are some young college aged kids doing time for illegal sports meds. For you, it's just a drag because you have to get in front of the cameras, awwww! Who wrote your speech? I know, your press agent, of course.
If my disapproval of you seems a bit overly critical it is because of these facts; The few hundreds of pro ballers are in no way substantially better at running around bases or hitting a ball with a piece of pine. It is all in who scouted whom, and with a pool of hundreds of thousands,an easy job at best. The real insult to me, is when several years ago, I read an article about the $$$$$ you overpaid egomaniacs make. Turned out that for each "at bat", each time you stepped up to the plate (oh, and looking so mui macho as you faced down your enemy) YOU GUYS AVERAGED $17,000.00. And that was years ago that this particular stat was released.
RBI= real boobish imbeciles. ERA =egomaniacal real a$$holes. - 2 years ago

Ok A-Fraud - here is the deal...Imma keep it short.
Alex, you being kind when you call yourself and that "cousin" of yours, ignorant. You and your "cousin" are as dumb as a stack of bricks. You are a disgrace to our culture and to all athletes and fans around the world. And dude...could it have hurt you to read that cheat sheet before you went up there? You sound like, well, a jock!
You are no better than the average fiend I see around my neighborhood.
You make me sad dude. With all the other shit going on in this fuking world, now I cant watch a ball game without thinking everyone is juicing. You should be banned for a year. NO PAY...Stay home with your new old chick and hear her and that fake British accent of hers all day, everyday, praising oh holy BOLE, kabala shimbala, see how that goes.Oh yea...would you mind telling Fred Wilpon where you got the stuff. I mean, my Mets have chocked two straight years...they need all the help they can get! hahha
