Sandra Herold told the The Associated Press on Wednesday that she "never, ever" gave the drug to her 14-year-old chimp, Travis. The animal on Monday attacked Herold's friend, 55-year-old Charla Nash, leaving her severely injured.
Stamford police said Herold told them that she gave Travis Xanax earlier on Monday to calm him because he was agitated. And in an interview aired Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show she said she gave the chimp some Xanax-laced tea "five minutes" before the attack — she even showed a reporter the mug.
A University of Chicago doctor says the anti-anxiety drug can lead to aggression in people who are unstable to begin with.

Sometimes I pop 10 Xanax, then I immediately go take random dumps around the house. By the time I wake up 2 days later I do not remember anything and I stumble across random piles of shit and squish...

this is what i like to call " first hand science test" pills are bad and should only be forced on humans if they effect the brain. i bet if she tried to calm the chimp down with A FATTY JOINT! they chimp would have just sat there and pretended to drive a car and wave at the people with a big smile on his face.
the drug companies and people who profit off of show casesing wild animals brought this on themselves. - 3 years ago

Wild animals should remain so. Then primitive humans could avoid shit like this.

I agree. It is tragic that people think they can domesticate a chimp. Animals have instincts, they will come out sooner or later despite any action you take to prevent it.
I watched a documentary about a woman who takes care of chimps she has "saved." A man and his wife came to visit the facility and the man was attacked by one male chimp, his nose and testicals were removed via the chimp. Another man who worked at the facility had to grab a shot gun and shoot the chimp which resulted in his death just to get the chimp off of the man he was attacking. A witness later shared that the man who was attacked was teasing the male chimp, agitating him to a point that his animal instinct kicked in and he took action. In my opinion, the chimp was only reacting to a threat to his "man-hood" and property. I'll never gorget that story and to this day I have no sympathy to any human who is attacked by a chimp, they most likely brought the attack on themselves!

I haven't been to a zoo in about 20 years because it's too disheartening. I'd rather view wildlife while traveling - when you might get to observe them acting naturally in their habitats, or what's left of them.
