I play Saints Row one and two, I just beat it last night and I must say...though I am almost sixteen and not at the mature limit, I think someone who just hit puberty is way to young since the game is riddled with nothing but sex, violence and blood. I am one who does not normally believe in video games making violence but I do believe half of the stuff in this game is not suitable for young kids merely for the fact half of the cutscenes issue such violence. I knew at that age I wouldnt understand half of the stuff going on.
One such cutscene a girl is tied to her chair, her boyfriend interrupts her being kidnapped and her neck is slit, and the scene shows blood squirting all over the wall.
Another a flasher walks up and exposes himself while in the background a girl gets a blow job.
Another cut scene a young gang lutienant who you befriended is drug by a truck, once getting to him you kill him by a shot in the head but first you look at his mangled body.
I love this game, I really do, but its for a really mature person
Not a thirteen year old little boy. Sure im only two years older, yes, but he is way to young...and sure I do not know his maturity level, but still...i'd rather violition(The games maker) not get pointed at for any violence or anything resulting in games because some of the scenes can really cause some major thought to the world. I just think he may be too young...but like I said I dont know, all I know is there is some bad bad stuff in this game.

I could get onto a WHOLE other rant entirely about teenage parents,
but I think games are for whomever wants to play them.

I'm all for kids having an 8th grade education and then out to a vocational school or go on to "High school/college" -- Though I mean an 8th grade education more like the ones in 1850's -- remember that 13yo's were allowed to be married back then. People who are 13 can't really be made to do anything, If we were raising the kids better they'd be more responsible by the time they were 13.

Labor laws that allow 12yo + to work and go to school actually make sense. Remember even now agrarian people use the kids as young as 5 or 6 to do planting and animal chores. Its actually the reason for the summer school break so the kids could help on the farm! In many places of the world there are parents as young as 14 and their societies don't crumble. Modern society coddles the young more than its reasonable now. I will agree that returning to the situation in the beginning of the industrial era is a bad idea, we've now gone too far the other way.

1st world urbanite are the only people that think that 14yo shouldn't be allowed to have children (yes they are more mentally mature and we should fix that.)... Also in many places in Africa adults older than 16 are for a variety of reasons dead.

Remember there are plenty of 13yo soldiers in the 3rd world not that I'm for that either its a hard life but it does seem from the evidence 13yo's are capable of being competent the 1st world just doesn't hold them to that standard

Throughout much of the world, pre-teens and teens doing it and having babies is a really serious issue (Brazil, Venezuela, South Africa... U.S.). I find it astonishing that one puppy-faced British 13-year old catches the media attention and suddenly, we are all in shock and awe about this "new" social derailing.

Instead of bantering about what video games he is playing, I think it would be more prudent to take a failed educational system to task. Clearly, there is a need for a widespread campaign for reproductive health - prevention and consequences.

If kids aren't learning to use precaution from parents or in school, these messages need to be coming from somewhere.

Maybe instead of sensationalizing one story, that is not the first and will not be the last, the media could take this opportunity to do some investigative journalism and educate audiences on what can be done to prevent more of these cases.

I played Halo and CS when I was ten (rated M) and played bloodier games like Quake, Doom, and GTA. I turned out fine. No random killing sprees or psycho obsessions here.

The rating system is exclusively for the parent to decide whether he/she should let their childrern play.

I'm afraid that the 'evolution',or simply development of science,the inventions,the fact,that nowadays you have to buy a new p.c.,desktop or laptop every 4 to 6 month to be "updated",is too hard too keep up with.Nowadays,even most kindergarten-kids use internet-technology and soon,in a few years have learned to pay attention to up to 6 things at the same time.How many grown-ups do you know,who can even do the same with more than,let's say,2 or three things?Most parents have simply no idea,what their children are doing with their computers and have no idea of the problems,even dangers of the internet.

I agree that the kid playing this game is a non issue especially compared to the fact that he knocked up a girl when he was 13 and she was 15. Yeah 13 might be a little young to play a violent game, but how many of us watched R rated movies when we were 13? I remember watching plenty when I was that age! So all of you crying foul because he is playing a rated M game I want to know if you ever watched an R rated movie before you were 18.

The issue here should be a 13 year old (who looks 8) having a child not whether or not he was playing an M rated game.

Probably has been said many times throughout this topic, but there are more people that have a problem with this 13 year old parent and his 15 year old wife playing a 18+ game (that doesn't allow the player to engage in sex to my knowlage there aren't any "Hot Coffee" programs that GTA San Andreas had as an extra download), than this 13 year old KID having a daughter, and I just want to throw in some thoughts on this "news" flash.
First the kid having a baby is the more important part of this story, and besides he's 13 not 5 years old and most likely knows that throwing satchel charges and blowing up subway cars, or slamming a car into a wall going 90mph just for the hell of it, is a rediculous and stupid thing to do in reality. Just to say however, that anyone who believes a psycho that says violent video games are to blame for his/her recent illegal actions should be thrown into a crazy house, along with some government people.
Anyway. Second, if that baby is really that 13 year old's then I think that is sad, because all this kid is going to know is the life of a parent or adult, and not have the true experience of being a kid, even though that is more and more difficult to do each year. Cant really do anything about it, except if the S.S (or Social Services) gets involved and deems the family a threat to the better good of the newborn. but I wish luck to these three children.
