maasanova,
The limits some San Francisco stores placed on the amount of rice one person could buy does not qualify as the general food shortage you alluded to in your first post. As I mentioned, the price of rice rose because of higher gas prices, but the ability to ship the product was not affected. Since other food products were still readily available, it didn't pose a serious risk to the people of San Francisco. And, since the limits were placed on bulk purchases of imported rice in our nation's second largest rice-growing state, I wouldn't tout it as an example of a U.S. food shortage. - 3 years ago

There's alot about this interview I don't trust.
But, I'll just say this; the more "civil unrest" becomes a thought within our collective conscious, the more likely it is to happen. Nothing good ever comes of fear, and everyone loves pessimisim.

Winter mute when there are gas shortages or when gas was high, there actually were food shortages. Do you remember the rice rations that San Francisco had to impose last spring? Look it up.
And yes people should be buying locally but how many people are actually growing enough food to provide for large communities?

When gas prices were high, did ships, trucks and trains have problems delivering food? No, they just raised prices accordingly. It didn't lead to any food shortages. And would it really be terrible if people had to shop for locally grown/raised food because their frozen beef couldn't be shipped 2000 miles across the country?

If gas spikes again and ships, trucks and trains cannot deliver food then we will have a problem.

Don't start stocking up on canned foods and retreat to that shack in the woods just yet ACrisisinAmerica; the U.S. is not in any danger of running out of food or having to deal with massive civil unrest. As much as I enjoy listening to Jim Rogers, he is obviously tying to show how his move to Singapore a few years ago was a brilliant decision and maintain his relevance as an investor.
And for the record, many Jews correctly recognized that the discrimiantion they faced in the late 1930s would only get worse and fled Germany before the state-sponsored genocide went into full swing.

I try to talk to my friends and family about stuff like this but they don't want to hear about it. I've pretty much given up on them.

Thank you for sending me this. It will get a lot worse than Civil unrest in America when there is no food. It will be like Madmax from Thunderdome in some places.
Wow the media really was trying to get him to say anything good. When the News guy said it was a pleasure talking with you, it sounded like the wrong thing to say, they were dumb founded. Everyone is living in denial. Just like the Jews in Germany didn't even realize what was happening until the were in the gas chambers. They have everyone on antidepressants now, they are like sheep. They will be able to just heard them in.. Sad news but nothing you or I didn't know already.
I will pass this around, already sent it to twitter.
Take care and prepare.
