Each season on Project Runway, a buzzword seems to emerge from the fashion ether. In Season 4 the word was "fierce," courtesy of the winner, Christian Siriano. This season, "bummer" may be the operative word.
The sixth season of the hit cable-television show is in production without a parent network or a premiere date, because of dueling lawsuits by NBC Universal and the Weinstein Co.
Although Season 6 won't be broadcast for months, if ever, the producers filmed an awkward finale at Fashion Week in New York on Friday, in a tented room filled with barely hushed uncertainty about the show's future.
"We are all in a bit of a limbo," the show's host, model Heidi Klum, told the roughly 1,000 audience members, "and we hope that everything is sorted out very soon."
The Runway finales are normally a highlight of Fashion Week, which is held at Bryant Park in Manhattan twice a year. But the lawsuits cast a pall over the competition.
"For the contestants, it's kind of horrible," Siriano said before the show.

I honestly had not even noticed that the new season was missing from TV before Fashion Week.
The last season was such a let down for me. It seems like many of the designers were chosen more for their quirky personalities than their design skills.
