Everyone here has the wrong idea about this.
I've been part of the BME community for years, and can tell you this is A TEST/RESEACH...
I think there was 5 guys who attempted it originally, all at the same time, and a specialist was consulted, and a surgeon, they all agreed that the subjects wouldn't feel anything, due to lack of nervs on that particular part of the eye and it's virtualy impossible for them to be blinded by it..
Yes there has been a couple of people since that have had it done, but again, it's highly experimental.... - 2 years ago

Wow! And I was thinking that laser surgery would be hard to sit thru.
I don't know how sensitive the eyes are, but I wonder how hard it is to puncture one? ick!

Hmmm, I'm too scared of laser eye surgery to get something like this done. Losing my sight is not worth even the most marginal risk.

as someone who has quite a bit of tattoo work and facial piercing and has studied the body modification scene I can say this is not new, it has been out for a while and it is not all that common. Not to many people can or are allowed to do or know how and in fact was originally done just by one guy. Its not, in my opinion, the wisest thing but then again I have seen people get there whole leg carved in one sitting with a scalpel. nothing really shocks me anymore certainly not this.

This has been around for a time now. This, to me looks stupid (like a lot of body modifications) but the only thing we can argue is that it freaks the hell out of the people, but nothing more, is their damn body. Some people eat till they explode, some swim in feces, and some get tattoos in their eyes.

I hate how this article mentions removal. People hesitant about modifications always have this concept of removal on their minds. If you think you're going to eventually remove a certain tattoo, it probably means you shouldn't have it done in the first place. The permanence, however tangible that may be in our advanced medical age, should be respected and thoughtfully considered when deciding on a piece for your adornment.
Don't be frivolous with your body just because it's possible to reverse these things now. - 3 years ago

It's real, and that is Shannon Larrat's eye. He's an experienced body mod writer and he really knows his stuff. I'm a huge fan of his. Check him out.
All of this took place well over a year ago, btw. It's not new.

I saw this on a tattoo television show. It is a die inserted into the white part of the eyeball, you can also do a glow in the dark ink that turns color under a black light, TRIPPY!
