President Obama declared war against the military-industrial complex yesterday for wasting billions of dollars in government contracts.

"The days of giving defense contractors a blank check are over," he said.

Obama signed an executive memo ordering an overhaul of contract bidding and awards in all agencies that he said will cut costs by $40 billion a year. The new rules will be in place by September.

    • "The American people's money must be spent to advance their priorities - not to line the pockets of contractors or to maintain projects that don't work," Obama said." Damn fucking right!

    • Obama is the first president bright enough to understand President (and General) Eisenhower's dire warning about the military-industrial complex.

    • Now that's a war I could believe in. War on the Industrial Military Complex! President Obama can change things with the stroke of a pen. Good use of the pen yesterday!

Keep up the good work President Obama. Change we can believe in.

    • man...i don't know brendan, spending 350 is still more than the next 5 nations spend together. I think that, and the vast ocean should be enough to protect us.

if it isn't we're doing something wrong.

I understand why we have a standing navy...but why in the hell do we need a standing army these days. get rid of it.
