The big Washington session—Obama called it a health care summit—and meetings to follow around the country show the new president's push for universal health care coverage will be more open and inclusive than the Clinton administration's failed attempt of 15 years ago.
"In this effort, every voice has to be heard. Every idea must be considered. ... There should be no sacred cows," Obama said as he opened his White House forum on what he calls the greatest threat to the U.S. economy—rising health care costs. Mindful that opponents derailed the Clinton plan, Obama also issued a warning: "Those who seek to block any reform at all, any reform at any cost, will not prevail this time around."
The U.S. system is the world's costliest; the country spends some $2.4 trillion a year on health care. It leaves an estimated 48 million people uninsured, and many others lack adequate insurance.

I just hope that he has the political capital and the American people have the will to see that a positive change does occur. I have to admit that I am hopeful but doubtful.
I've just seen the power of the mindless masses under the spell of the RWW's (right wing wacko). I've witnessed the nearly unlimited resolve combined with advertising by the corporations. I've also heard the cries of those who expect perfection. I just hope that there is enough of us who understand that we need something better than what we have now.

This sort of process transparency is promising. Hopefully we can finally shirk the kind of special interest dominated, smoke and mirror laden douchebaggery that has come to characterize the US health care system. There exists in this country, an established and weathered contingent of ultra-conservative elites, who have a vested interest in this well-refined system..and the vast amounts of wealth necessary to ensure its continued existence. Maybe the pure, unadulterated light of day is all we need to finally ensure the break down of what is ultimately a fruitless cycle of nonsensical devolution in our collective well-beings for the betterment of the very, very few. Huzzah transparency!
