MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A car exploded in an office building parking lot Thursday, the second vehicle blast in the Memphis area in a little more than a month.
One woman was injured and taken for treatment at the burn center of the Regional Medical Center, Fire Department Lt. Keith Staples said. He had no other details on her injuries, and her condition wasn't immediately available from the hospital.
Fire officials and bomb experts from the city police and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were investigating the explosion that was reported about noon Thursday on the eastern side of the city.
Dana Swift, a registered dental assistant at Memphis Periodontal Group across the street from the blast, said she heard the "loud boom" of the explosion.
"It sounded like a generator exploded," Swift said. "We didn't know what happen. We are located right by a railroad track so we thought the train might have hit something."
Immediately afterward, Swift said, she and co-workers rushed out of their medical complex to see the car.
