WHAT kind of man would try to "eject" his own frail 85-year-old mother-in-law from her one-bedroom apartment? Michael Wolff.

The bald, trout-lipped Vanity Fair writer and his wife, Alison Anthoine, are being sued for $2.5 million by Edith Anthoine, who claims their "upsetting" and "pressuring" tactics to evict her from her East 74th Street home caused her to suffer a heart attack. "[They] have continued to communicate hostile messages . . . and have threatened to 'eject' her . . . ," the suit states.

In her Manhattan Supreme Court suit, Edith Anthoine alleges that, in 1994, the couple asked her to give them her rent-stabilized four-bedroom unit at Lexington Avenue and 77th Street, which was turning co-op, so they could buy it at a good price and have more room for their three kids. In exchange, they agreed to buy a nearby one-bedroom for her to live in until her death, the suit claims.
