WASHINGTON - President Obama's trip to California this week won't be all about work.

Instead, he will take a little break.

According to a White House official, the president plans to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday.

Obama's last appearance on NBC's premiere late night show was Oct. 17, 2007 — in the middle of the presidential campaign.

yes peterinda, the world is a stage and we're just acting our way through it. Some rich, some poor, some black and some white. We all just have different roles to play.

I sure do wish I had been given the rich part, this poor bit part is getting old. lol

    • Under the circumstances with AIG I don't know if I would be feeling very good showing up on the tonight show if I were the Pres. How will he make us feel good about the AIG bonuses? How do you think he is gonna lift our spirits and make us relax and take a deep breath?

I think the fact that he can speak in a complete sentence is reassuring. I don't feel his base is, the haves and have mores. I do think he is working with ordinary Americans in mind. He is able to articulate what I am feeling in general.

America is in a mess, we can't give in to fear and we can't operate the same as we have. Picking the proper course will be difficult, but I do think he will try to move us in a positive direction. Plus, he is open to new ideas.

      Conniepae,
I agree with you in regards to some of Obama's attributes. You're right, he can speak in complete sentences. I agree that America is in a mess and that we can't give into fear.
His premise is based on accountability and that is what I will be looking for. I will be looking to him to get to the bottom of this horrible probability of debacle.
I appreciate your version of the glass is half full politics but don't be lulled into a false sense of security. The proof is in the pudding.

We didn't get into the mess we are in, in 100 days and I'm sure it's not going to change in President Obama's first 100 days. There is so much on his plate, I'm sure it's hard to seat people in his Cabinet and try and correct our course.

Mainstream media is all over accountability now that President Obama is in office. Where the hell were they as the mess was being created? They were basically enabling cheerleaders, misleading Americans with their, "nothing to see here, move along" mentality. Ordinary Americans trusted them to report and not distort facts. Many times they weren't the actual distorters, they were enablers to the ones who were doing the distorting.

    • Ignore the nay sayers. We need a President like President Obama. I have lived through 8 years of a President which I strongly objected to. Was I able to change it? No, I was forced to move along.

To those who do not like President Obama, move along. You will have a chance again in 4 years, but this is our time. Time for those of us who are looking for a Leader, who is willing to walk the walk. I trust President Obama to make the efforts needed to try and correct the course of America.

Change the channel on your televisions, move along. It's our turn!

    • i wanna see him take colbert. or colbert take him. that would be awesome.

but in all truth i think it's pretty admirable of obama-- he seems to be doing what he can to reach people in the ways they are usually reached: viral campaigns, tv shows... it's actually brilliant.

    • Don't the various truth sites put him at 17 promises kept, 2 potentially broken (under narrow interpretation). That isn't that bad of a record...that's actually reasonable (considering the economic climate).

    • who cares? hes just gonna continue to lie to us. Obama & Bush work for the same people. they are both puppets. google Bilderberg or the Obama Deception.
we havent had a true president since JFK and look what they did to him. its proven that Obama has lied numerous times already. his cabinet is fillec with lobbyist. Geithner is his treasury sec. who was pres. of the fed. come on now. enlighten yourself! its all bullshit and its bad for ya. (george Carlin)
its all a lie & and Obama is the sacred face of it all to dupe the masses and its going flawlessly

You've posted seven times in this thread. All about the same thing (and none of which are about Obama's appearance on The Tonight Show). I'd say that qualifies as spamming.

I've already seen these types of movies. Whuchoo gonna do about it? Overthrow the American government? Have fun with that. The Sudanese must be so proud that they have ideological followers.

Every post was about "Obama" his appearance on the tonight show is trivial in light of his position as head puppet for the murders of the Military Industrial Complex. "Over-through the American Government"? How about we fight to get our Constitutional Republic back from the international bankers and there corporations that have high jacked our once great Republic?

Well no, The Daily Show is based in New York, like David Letterman's show. The Tonight Show is the last big name weekday night show that broadcasts out of California.

He's not afraid, but this is a PR nightmare. Daily Show is one of the most left programs around--Fox News would have a field day! He's trying to be everyone's president. Would it have killed him to wait for Conan or even Letterman though. Leno? Really?

    • An actor? Well, I'll take an 'actor', over a 'decider' any day of the week. As far as the recession being President Obama's fault, you are kidding? right?

At least if President Obama is an actor, he's a good one. George W. Bush was an admitted 'decider', who had no ideal about good decisions.

We are all actors in the play of life. A President acting like a good leader, is a good role for the actor we have chosen to lead.

    • I don't watch the Tonight Show, but I will be watching it Thursday night. President Obama lifts my spirits. I look forward to seeing him in a more relaxed atmosphere. Maybe, just maybe he can help us all to relax and take a breath.

I do agree with ddhboy, I would rather see him on Jon Stewart, but the Tonight Show will do. Kudos to President Obama for his willingness appear in public. It's refreshing to see a President who is willing to talk to American people.

Really!? We all know that the recession is a planned attack by the bankers such as those involved with the Federal Reserve...... That was a good movie tho! If we could get Obama/ wars on drugs and terror supporters to understand what rolls groups like the Fed, the CFR, the Trilateral Commission and the Builderburgers play in world affairs.

    • All political differences aside, I really like that about Obama. He actually seems normal enough to go on these shows and is comfortable talking with show hosts.
