Cambridge now requires A*AA

Cambridge University now requires that applicants get at least A*AA in their A-levels in order to study at the university.

    • I knew it! I knew it! You Limeys are trying to keep us in the dark by using all that weird language.....A*AA in their a-levels? Where I come from, Nigel, AAA refers to the American Automobile Association, and AA refers to Alkys Anonymous. It's a conspiracy, I tell ye'!!
      Now I'll never be able to get into Cambridge!! Stick that into your A-level, my li'l friend!!

    • Last year Cambridge turned away more than 5, 000 triple-A candidates, so I suppose they need something to differentiate students - but is this the answer or is it just a lazy method?

    • I was thrown by the A* grade, having not had that in my day, and suddenly felt very old. It's not coming into play until 2010 though.

      What's this mean for people who got As in 2009 though? Bit harsh that their 3 A grades won't look as impressive as people who got 3 A* grades just one year later.
