Large fire in Chancery Lane - captured by Twitter

The fifth floor of Field House in Chancery Lane, London caught fire at 15.40 today & 12 fire engines and 60 firefighters were sent to tackle the blaze. Around 130 people had to be evacuated from the building.

It's interesting that the first pictures of the event came from people on Twitter and are now being used in news reports. Including the one above http://www.twitpic.com/photos/mitchrob84

    • I love how the mainstream have jumped on Twitter for stuff like this, it just shows how useful it's become so quickly.

      Just think back to the Hudson River plane crash in NYC, the original Twitpic picture had millions of views and was also used across the news stations.

      The linked item shows the most recent data on Twitter usuage and how the website is now being viewed more than a lot of traditional news websites.
