June Brown who plays the character Dot Cotton is the first female soap star to be nominated for a Bafta best actress award since Jean Alexander, for her portrayal of Coronation Street's Hilda Ogden, 20 years ago.

Yay Dot. It's about time some good soap stars got recognised. She has done some of the classic "two hander" episodes which were really gripping.

June Brown has been in Eastenders since 1985 (almost as long as I've been alive!) although she did have a couple of breaks along the way.
