"We have great hope that this media reform will be accomplished by you," read the statement aimed at minister Abdel Aziz Khoja, who was tapped to the post Feb. 14. "We have noticed how well-rooted perversity is in the Ministry of Information and Culture, in television, radio, press, culture clubs and the book fair."
The move is another sign of the backlash by clerics in the country against what they deem to be modernizing efforts in the media."

Numbers aren't the problem . It is the rage . The self reitchousness , that allows some to brush aside "thou shall not kill " so easily . Of course christians are angry . They are cut off from the divine . Born in sin , kicked out of the garden . They can never know god . What a burden grief they must struggle with , however "good " they are . What despair . Denial is the primary coping strategy . Until this is dealt with Christians will try to silence dissent and (for their own good) convert the masses . They are trying to make right what they have been taught as children . The faith tells them that if there is consensus the hurt will cease . Heaven comes after death . Women have drowned children to save them . I do not expect anything but anger from you . I do think you deserve an honest answer so here it is .

@artemis6. Give me some numbers for how many doctors, artists, and innocents christians and jews have mowed down. Seriously, don't include those sick people who do third trimester abortions as being in one of those groups. If those babies were outside the womb they'd be alive. OK, include them and still give me your huge number. How many people have fallen to Judaism and Christianity in the last fifty years? I just want to see how blood thirsty they are. How many people have the Budhists been offing? Any figures on that?

Any organized religion can be radicalized . Both christianity and islam are sprung from Abraham . In recent times christians have killed doctors , artist , and the innocent - all because they either disagreed or were being protected from temptation and hell . Until people of religion can learn to better cope with the fact that some people do not want or need such dogma , I consider such mindsets volatile and dangerous .

Lilith was deleted from the bible too, because "she only comes when she's on top." Mohammed's wife was once a very powerful woman. There are rare instances, like in Sadam's Iraq ironically, where Muslim women have more freedom. Many if not most Lebanese women are Westernised.
Take a trip to FLDS Utah and see how the women live there. That's a modern example. What we learned from our foremothers here in America is to fight our own battles. We are strong. And Saudi women need to be strong too.
If you're in Saudi Arabia and you are reading this, take back your religion, take back your life, find your own way. We're praying for you. We stand with you.
"If there's anything I've learned after all these years it's to find my own way, find my own way...."

Saudi women are so highly educated, but they hardly have the right to do anything with this education. Hell, they can't even drive a car in their own country.

Hey d/cat, get a clue will ya! You drag up fact from the past that is absolutely not relevant to the events of today, and attempt to make comparison of Christianity to Islam ? I assume that you are not a christian (which matters not to me), but it seems to me that you're coming across as an Islam apologist...go ahead, paint your colors and declare yourself.

in response to Akamaial's no examples in Christianity of women being mistreated, go talk to Joan of Arc. While in prison during the Inquisition (church court) she wore men's clothing to prevent being raped. She was told my one of the priests that they would not sentence her to death by fire if she puts on women's clothing, she chose not to be raped and was fried. The other women in the prison were raped and it was a known fact by the priests and the guards. And what about the witch trials? People tend to forget that the Inquisition was running out of heretics and turned to witchcraft. But there was a problem, who was a witch and what constituted witchcraft. No problem, the Vatican authorizes two priests to come up with the information and The Witches Hammer was born and thousands of women were abused, imprisoned, tortured and murder by Christianity. Whether it be Catholic or Christian preachers they both worship the same Jewish prophet and follow the same commandments of the Jewish God. How much support did the Christian churches give the suffragettes when they were fighting for the rights of woman to vote? It took 2,000 years for the church to announce they were wrong about Mary Magdalene, turns out the whore wasn't a whore. No there has never been an example of women mistreated by the Christians, the saviors of mankind.

@ desertcat. Got anything in the last say 600 years or so that compare to that? (Joan of Arc early 1400's.)
Sure christianity had it's day or torture and mistreatment, but they've moved on quite a bit. They could still move into the age of birth control, especially in underdeveloped countries.

I wish the international human rights group particularly the womens group are reading this. Come on, we all came out from the womb of our mother. Why can't they let the women live equally with men.

I think the Saudi women are going to have to fight this battle alone. If they want rights they are going to have to do what everyone else has done in the past. I just don't see what we can do. Boycott oil from over there? heck we won't even do that to save the lives of our troops, we certainly won't do it for women's rights. Its not like Saudi Arabia is a hot bed for tourists, they hate us and don't want us there. they allowed themselves to be enslaved by their religion just as we are doing to ourselves with Christianity. The only way and woman or man is ever going to be truly free is to throw off the shackles of religion.

You are off the mark on the Christianity enslavement bit my friend..It does not mandate belief by cohersion, or maim or kill for apostasy, or treat women like dogs and none believers as pig and monkeys... there is no comparison, none, nada, zilch etc,etc...

This is a pervasive practice of Islam, a perverted faith that is insidiously forcing its presence everywhere it is allowed. It must be stopped by speaking out and alerting people of this evil faith that disguises itself as peaceful...there is nothing peaceful about Islam, as evidenced around the world by its violent actions against people who do not capitulate to it's monotheistic theocratic dominance. Europe is just now beginning to realize the monsters presence in their back yard that has raised up in there midst and is subjecting their evil will upon the hands that offered haven to them.

akamaial:
I disagree here. It's not that there aren't facets of Islam that I find deplorable, it's rather that there are facets of every religion that are deplorable and many, many creative and beautiful things about Islam. It is a shame, that a religion who's prophet was married to a POWERFUL woman cannot in modern times allow power for their own women. I believe Islam was much better before all of this chauvenism. But I cannot say, although honestly Islam gets low low marks for feminism right now, that chauvenism is not pervasive in Christianity and Judaism as well. Don't even get me started on the Eastern philosophies. I've met certain people who travel to Afghanistan and find women like their burqas (probably because rape by Russians was all too comon and hiding was a good idea). This may be so, and I have seen many a beautiful Hijab, but no one will ever force me to cover up. Or shut up. It's my body, my choice.

Very good post aka, couldn't have said it any better. What is with the world that is allowing these cretins air time. They should go back to the caves they want the rest of us to live in. But don't under estimate this band of rag heads, they are growing and they don't care who they kill or how many they kill of us infidels simply, like you said so well, because we don't subscribe to their monotheistic BS.
Keep up the good work.
