Government of the Dead: Hang a Banker

JasonNParkinson
Tuesday 24 February 2009: The Government of the Dead marched along Oxford Street to Tyburn, now known as Marble Arch, where until the 18th Century was the popular home of London's public hangings.

The zombies took with them an effigy of a banker, which they hung from London's famous archway at Hyde Park, a symbolic gesture of disgust at the UK banking system and the £500 billion taxpayer bailout of the capitalist system.

This video is released now as the city of London prepares for mass protest against the G20 summit on the 28th of March and 1st and 2nd of April.

    • This is brilliant!
@ richjm - the university professor is Dr Chris Knight and he was suspended from University of East London in response to his comments. To their shame, the corporate management of UEL then went on to shut down the university during the G20 meeting as it's only metres away as it did not want the university becoming the focus for "direct action"! UEL was due to host the alternative G20 summit and therefore ensured that no alternative views to the global crisis were heard. Knight was hounded by UEL security while on campus. We're pissed that this happened and that Knight's statements to the press were used to justify the brutal policing that London and the world witnessed during those two days and that the alt summit was shut down

    • I think we all know who'll be Guy Fawkes' effigies at this year's Bonfire Night festivities. The guy will no doubt be sharply dressed with wide pink ties and braces...

    • Is this related to this news story about an organiser of G20 protests has been suspended from his job as a university professor after he warned bankers could be "hanging from lampposts"?
