    • at the unveiling, Ono said, "Once the solution for autism is discovered, we will see the sky shimmering in its original beauty, with no holes."

As touched as I am by the message of the piece, and as someone that has worked with kids with autism for many years, I wish more people would emphasize the solutions that we DO HAVE for people with autism NOW - instead of continuing to emphasize the need to hurry up and find a "cure". The only consistent research available on "treatments" for autism states that early intervention and education are the best ways to help kids with autism function - unfortunately, these services are GROSSLY UNDERFUNDED - so to really help people with autism TODAY, I feel that we should be investing MORE into the services we can give them now, and LESS (not none, less) on finding a "cure."
